I had my z10 on top of my iPad (i know, it's apple ) and it slid off from bout 4 feet or so and landed on the tile floor but luckily no damage for me. I feel for you though good thing you have another one.

So sorry, that's got to hurt. I actually just started going commando today. The Casemate barely there black case I put on from day one looked and felt great but started to chip the black paint on the corner of my Z10 where it would touch. F that. I got so pissed. Just ordered the leather pouch.

Sometimes I use cases, sometimes I don't. I'm clumsy too!
I don't know, I never judge people because in the end you are the one who shelled out money for your device... you should be able to enjoy it naked or covered whatever your preference.
Also, phone manufacturers go through so much to craft a superbly designed phone, that sometimes I just want to enjoy it.
But yes, this is a risk you take when you go without a case. Sorry dude.

@OP. Glad you were able to get another. The reality is.... . no one really wants to cover up their BlackBerry and no one wants a new BlackBerry with lots of scratches on it.... when you can protect it. By the time my wife's z10 gets here, the cases will already be here.

Look like they're about $200 for the screen.
They're expensive because its all 1 piece of glass. The digitizer is built into the glass. Normally they're 2 separate pieces.

That's double and tripe some phones, iPhone is only 80-100, I wonder why it's a little more expensive

I have a case on my Z10 and yesterday I dropped it from waist height onto concrete, it landed screen side down.
The phone survived, had I not been using a case which puts a bumper round the edge of the whole screen I think it could have been a lot worse!

That's why I like the Se dio case( Best Buy brand), I'm not so sure how much protection it would provide from a fall that high onto pavement(definayely some, as it covers the sides and the back) , but it has a nice plastic holster, so you don't have to juggle your phone , keys , coat or whatever, when you are get in and out of a car or going through a door.

I hate cases on my devices. Even if the device cost me $1500 I wouldn't use one. I giggle at my iPhone buddies because the case prevents them from "holding it wrong". That was Apple's fix for antenna issues remember? I have another friend who is always sitting on his Android breaking it yet refuses to stop putting them in his back pocket. Oh well. My phone goes into my front right pocket. Nothing else goes in there. No change, no keys, nothing. It's a tragic loss when this happens to a device. Lord knows I've dropped enough phones into sinks and toilets. The old Bold must have been submerged 6-7 times but I know what to do to save it. That won't happen with the Z10.

I had bad experiences losing the screen twice for my Curve 3G, and have been careful since then! Its not that expensive for Curve 3G though. I got mine cased just yesterday, fearing such losses!

Not dropped my phone is years. Hate bulky cases that stay on the phone while you use it. I like the very thin hard cases that add almost no size to the phone. Good for stopping scratched but not so good for dropping.

Some drop their phone all the time? It is just not worth putting a heavy case on mine. If it gets broken, I will replace it.

This was always my biggest concern in regards to full touch screen devices. I've never dropped a phone that I can recall but I do have a minimal case on my Zed10
