My Z10 has developed a strange issue: it plays double sound notification upon receiving a text message, using two different 'tones'. It also suddenly plays a sound notification when I send a text message.

My *normal* sound notification for receiving text messages is set for playing 'Presto' tone (in my Normal notifications profile). However, my Z10 also plays another notification before that one - I was able to trace the sound to a sound file named '3rd_party.m4a', sitting in a folder named '3rdparty_fallback' under 'notifications-tones' in device storage. Strangely, when I select this file from notifications profile setting for text messages, its name is showing as 'Essential' on the drop-down list.

The same strange 'Essential' sound now plays when I send a text message - something I have never seen a setting for in my Z10

Now, thinking about it, this issue may have its root cause in some sort of a SW conflict between Z10 messaging app and some other app I have installed on my phone - but which one?

Anyone having similar issue?

Do you have third party apps like Hub++ or BeBuzz installed? You need to disable the native notifications in order for those to work.

Did you ever resolve your problem of double text notifications? My z10 oS 10.3.1.2582 now has the same issue. Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks

Its caused by an app that accesses your text messages, something like "sms to email" etc that is triggered when a text message comes in (or goes out. I removed several applications and it seems to have resolved the issue but I dont know what apps I removed.

The issue seems to have resolved itself after one of the OS updates

I had double message previews on the last os but it is gone now with the latest 10.3.2.840

Also noticing that I can't turn the individual sounds off on bbm even though I went n turned it off still coming through also instant preview still comes thru after being shut off for bbm
