Currently my 9860 screen does not work at all when it or my fingers are cold. How has the z1 screen been during the cold snap for messaging or is everyone afraid to take it outside????

I had the 9860 and this was one of my biggest concerns buying the Z10.
I not only live in Canada but also spend a lot of time in hockey arenas with my phone. I would come off the ice after an hour of hockey and the 9860 was useless I could not type or I would get multtippple letters all the time not to mention the weird water mark in the center of the screen.

Well I am happy to say that even when I can't feel my own fingers from the cold at times, the Z10 rocks in the cold... works amazing and I could not be happier with this phone and the great keyboard.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

Ps :i was on twitter all the time, absolutely no difference between warm and very cold temperatures.

I actually found that my z10 doesn't work that well in the cold specially during that cold snap we had in Ottawa couple weeks ago. The temp was -30 with the wind and couldn't use the phone at all outside, but couple minutes after I got into the Tim's by my work the screen started to accept input again. I assume it was because my fingers were basically ice cubes.

How well did your hands work in -30 weather????

Was on Lake Simcoe ice fishing this weekend and it worked great at -10, -20ish with the wind chill. Was using it in very short bursts, mainly because my hands were to cold.

Does the touchscreen work in the cold?-img_00000045.jpg

That's gotta be bull. I don't mean any offense, but that has been an ongoing problem for me. My 9860 becomes almost unusable outside during minnesota winter. Its gotta be 30+ right now and I'm still having to re type every other word. Very annoying

Thanks for starting this thread OP! I have been intending to and thought I would give it more time. This is a huge issue for me. I really want a Z10 for the screen size, but was going to have to go for the Q10 if there were issues with the cold. Nothing like being trapped in a blizzard, needing help and your screen won't work (9850). I don't think I should have to warm my phone in my armpits to get it to work LOL.

Between this and the news today that the Z10 will soon update to be able to sync USB with Outlook, I am now decided on the Z10 (as soon as it launches in U.S. and those features are there). Hoping full Bridge features will be there at launch as well.

I'm sad to report that the touchscreen simply doesn't work in some areas of Neptune.

A white Z10 out ice fishing, lol.. Classic!! All these pics and information has helped..

Snowboarding at Blue Mountain will have to do over Tremblant for the time being, and as for now there is no space traveling planned so if the screen works here on earth below "normal room tempature" then that exceeds my expectations
