The battery life on my Z10 since 10.2 has always been poor, I search the forums n it seems I'm amongst the minority afflicted with absolutely Terrible battery life and the top of my phone gets hot where I assume the processor is. It gets really hot, too hot to touch along with the battery. Several battery apps I've downloaded such as battery pal show that my battery gets as hot as 120 F but that's while gaming or performing a few different functions at once. In the beginning It was just the processor getting hot n then the battery shortly after, now they both burn up simultaneously, and for no reason. Simple scrolling around thru my menus gets the phone to 104 F n I can't understand why. Battery loses like 2 percent a minute. I've assessed this with zero apps and with many, same result. Bedside mode is my only salvation. I figured the charger I use, which isn't the original charger(one is on the way) might be culpable but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any informed suggestions?

Did you try a reload of the OS? Sometimes...it doesn't take the first time....but, their could be other factors involved like apps. Hope it gets resolved and please keep us informed

Edit: my bad...just read about no apps...I only use OEM charger as this seems to give me no issues but have had this happen before and resolved by reloading OS

Z10 is made to keep Canadians hands warm in the winter, it's a feature not a problem. Great when it's almost -50 like today! /s

In all seriousness, my z10 used to get jot when I played games or watched movies, used to panic but nothing bad ever happen. I also thought about how my tv, xbox, ipad, Blueray player etc all get hot as well so I stopped paying in much mind. I'm in no way saying something isn't wrong with yours and if you feel so have it checked out

Me thinks it's the radios heating up your phone. I bet it's worse when you hold it in your hand. You ground the antenna and the phone tries to compensate by increasing power output. It's the same issue the iPhone and many others have.

That's the reason cases useful - isolation.

I use a PlayBook Charger, 1.8a, without any issues.

While I know some chargers can cause problems I'm under the impression the phone controls the charging speed which it changes based on measured battery temperature.

Yeah, but the only issues with that are on the long run. But you probably won't have it long enough to notice.

The easiest giveaway that something is going on is that if you use the stock charger, it heats whilst charging, whereas using the PB's the phone gets hot.

Hot battery = high pim services. Put your email accounts to sync every 24 hrs. If you use Gmail and are syncing your contacts it takes a few days for phone to settle in and Index all the files. Turn off blackberry sync, nfc and wifi when not in use as well.

Well according to the device monitor the pim services use a very insubstantial amount of battery. And since I got the phone I've always set my accounts to either manual sync r to 24 hrs, I'm aware of most, if not all, battery saving tips

OK. It took about 2 days for my phone to settle in. Right now my phone has been on for 7 hours and I'm down to 53%. That's a huuuuuge improvement over 1055.
