Hey guys! I would like to know your opinion about that topic... Right now it is easy to find the Z10 at around 350 euros off contract and I really think that for that amount is the best deal and best phone I can buy right now.
But... If I'm gonna buy that I really would like to keep it for at least a couple of years and I'm wondering if considering BB situation it will be suitable. Lack of apps and a hardware that will be easily outadet in one year scary me a lot also.. Suggestions?
P.s. I already own a Q10,which is amazing and so the Z10 is intended to be a gift

I just bought a Z in April and I am keeping mine for the two year period required by my carrier. Maybe longer. What makes you think you shouldn't get one now?

    The phone will still work.

I bought mine 3 weeks ago for 270. I would not care if no further apps were released (with the exception of a Natwest mobile banking app).

I'm worried that it will be outdated before the 2 year period.. What do you guys think? For the lack of app probably I do not have to be worried, thanks to 10.2 sideloading is way faster and stable(tried that on Q10). Plus,I've read there is already a way to install bar files OTA.. As for me a dual core 1.5 ghz,2GB of ram and 16GB storage device it is fast now. Will it be enough in 2015?

Every new consumer electronic is outdated within 6 months, get over it and take the plunge. Unless of course you want to wait for the Z30 :-)

Natwest was on BB7 which is why I miss it. I know the BB10 app was on the roadmap, but not a priority. Recent developments and sales of BB10 devices may make it even less of a priority.

I find that every phone feels outdated at the end of 2 years. Without worrying about apps, it has a solid user experience that I think will be fine for me in 2 years. I use it for email, contacts, surfing, calendar and passwords. That will be fine in 2 years in my opinion.

Eheh You are right.. But,e.g. last year I've assembled a new pc and its i7,8GB ram and 128GB SSD are still rocking right now and I'm sure they will also next year :P Will the Z10 behave in that way? ..
The Z10 would be a gift to my girl who actually has a 9320 that fits well..But sometimes I caught her watching at my Q10 and saying that her browser experience is not so good, that 1 time/week she has to make a battery pull, that some cool games are not available and so on.. She loves keyboard but I think that the Z10 will be perfect because it is not huge and it is perfect for web browsing and entertainment (much more than Q10 IMHO).

I'm trying not to consider Android as an option.. Also because which 350 euro off contract(unlocked)Android can compete with the Z10?
P.s. I'm not talking about web prices.

I find the Z to have a better typing experience than a physical keyboard. Although there is a couple week learning curve for the device to learn your particular writing style.

I used to have a 9900. The virtual keyboard is clever at offering word suggestions to swipe up, and I love the big screen real estate, but for pure typing I prefer keys. My wife has the Q10 and neither of us would swap the other

If you go android go with a nexus 4 (no lte officially, but band 4 can be turned on) you will be happy with it for the price that you pay ($200-$250 new unlocked).

If you go z10 you will be happy with it for what it is, but I would suggest getting one used imho.

If you get a good deal, go for it. Then you can be free of contracts, free of carrier manipulation and over-charging or forcing you into a new phone when you don't need one, or making you pay more monthly to subsidize it in your plan.

I was thinking same when I bought a $199 PlayBook a few years ago. I use it still daily and love it... Have 3 of them. It was simply a great deal at the time, and for most uses it does the job well. If you are into "must have" apps, do your research first. But if the deal is good, ask people with Z10's and see what they say... It has to serve you a few years anyways, by then you would probably upgrade. But ask yourself if you like the phone as it is now, pretend there will not be any major updates or app revolutions.

I've always hated typing on glass, and almost always have had a physical keyboard phonr as a main device. I agree it took me about 2 weeks to get used to it. Typing on the Z is the best virtual keyboard I've experience. As far as accuracy now, I'd say easily equal to typing on my torch. I still prefer the feel of an actual keyboard, but the screen makes up for that in my opinion.
