Hi folks, I use my z10's hot spot feature a lot but I'm wondering what is the difference between the creating a hot spot with the z10 and using tethering where you connected the devices with blue tooth and they share network?

To your carrier there really isn't any difference. To you, hotspot will probably give you better speed and range, and easier setup.

I'm unsure if there isn't any difference to all carriers. Yes hotspot would be faster since bluetooth is limited to bluetooth speeds.

Also, tethering is something that BBs have been able to do for a long time. My old Pearl 8100 could do it. But it allows for only a single connection - like your own mobile modem for a PC or laptop (the common use for it at the time). Usually you made a direct connection with the usb cable so speeds were limited by whatever the network was you were connected to. EDGE on the 8100 was a wee bit slow.

Hotspot allows for several connections at once - like a wireless router that any wireless device can connect to.

Hot Spot is like turning your phone into a router. Multiple devices can connect to it via wifi.

Tethering allows a single client device to connect to your device via bluetooth.

I think hotspot turns your phone into wireless router so up to 10 devices can connect. Like the other guy said.

Tether uses your LTE or 4g to get Internet on one device via bluetooth or USB.
