At the bottom of the linked report, there is an update about an email response from Detwiler stating:

Detwiler Fenton & Co. General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer Anne Buckley states, We are confident in our research methodology and we welcome any regulatory inquiry. Detwiler Fenton is not the only research provider publishing similar reports regarding customer reactions, sales, and returns of the BlackBerry Z10. It should also be noted that neither the Research Analyst nor any officer or director of Detwiler Fenton has any financial interest in BBRY.

INTERESTING. "We welcome any regulatory inquiry" said no one, ever. Oh wait, didn't Madoff say that initially?

By the way, here's a link to their website and contact info!

Im sure his actions were not criminal and knows the SEC wont find anything. It would be easy to skirt around with the numbers to back up the report.

They'll obfuscate and totally smudge everything up and play for confusion to save them.

The best part is that the analyst has been removed from Detwilers corporate page.

    Nothing to see here

What if they do have substantial evidence to back their claims? I know it's unlikely but if they don't find anything to pin them down the media will EXPLODE on BBRY.

If there was any truth to it, I doubt that BlackBerry would be taking these measures and risk it.

Also remember that blackberry is working with Verizon. A carrier that really has some numbers.(not for us public folk though) So we have 2 player's saying neh to the report. Plus the others reports that are out are just piggybacking off this one

I wonder if the analysts called up an AT&T store with no advertising banners and talked to a sales guy who never got BlackBerry training and pushes the iPhone.

If Verizon is stepping up and backing BlackBerry, maybe AT&T and T-Mobile should also. It might be that one of the other carriers is not having large sales numbers as Verizon.

The question is far simpler gents: who is paying for their research and How much do they pay? Its a paid hit job. Of Course they dont short BBRY, their client does.

What did people expect DF to say? "We called phone hut at the mall and the guy there sold one Z10 last week and then had two returns while we spoke with him. That is good enough for us and our client so we wrote it up as report to all our clients. We are in the business of providing just this sort of high level analysis. All our shady practices are perfectly legal and regulators are familiar with our practices and we are familiar with SEC investigations. The analyst responsible has been replaced with a newer analyst. Please contact our business development manager if you have something you would like one of our analysts to publish."
