Been following the BB10 and Z10 forums quite closesly and I havent seen this one posted yet. I picked up my Z10 first day available..

When I click SEND while sending a text message there is about a 3 second delay before the phone does anything. The message just sits in the typing field and is still editable and I can push send as many times as I want but nothing happens. It takes about 3 seconds before it posts the message in the chat and delivers it. BBM works fine and is instant. It does it via texting from the hub or the txt app.

    Any ideas??

I noticed the same thing a few days ago. It will probably be fixed in an update.

Sometimes that happens to mine as well. It is localised to one specific thread. I soft reset the phone and it's back to normal, (instant) texting.

Me too man, you aren't alone.
It's one of my main gripes when it comes to messaging. Should be addressed soon, I hope.

k thanks everyone. glad (sort of?) im not the only one. was just about to do a wipe to see if that helps but I think Ill wait for an OS update which I would expect sometime before the US launch but this is pretty frustrating to live with.

most of the other kinks, glitches, and issues with the OS ive been able to work around or havent affected me but this one has been bothersome

i dont get a delay in sending an sms, it might show network delay after its sent out of my phone but not like how you described it. though there is a slight delay in marking texts as read after i read them

Mine send instantly. Breve had that issue at all.

Maybe try ending the chat and then restarting it? (In the text chat Menu>End Chat)

My txt messages were instant when I first got my Z10 but now have a 2-4 second delay. Not a big deal but makes you wonder why. I reboot and it does the same.

I did a phone switch from my 9700 to Z10 when I got the phone. It loaded EVERY text message going back over a year. Is there a way to mass delete chats? I suspect this might not be helping. I tried clicking on the date and selecting 'delete prior' but it didn't do anything so I am manually deleting them.

Same thing happens to me when I am sending a message. But why should we need to delete the messages anyway?

It might not be a case of needing to delete messages, but some sort of problem with all my previous messages being imported.

    Hopefully they fix it soon.

Not sure if anyone else is also having this problem but sometimes it just won't send my texts when i hit "send". I have to delete everything, click back, then retype my text to send.

Happens to me too. I have to exit the text message and come back in to clear the field. Usually u send out bullets of messages. I don't think the lag is there to prevent slammers, lol. This lag reminds me of the PlayBook lag that it has with the native email app.

I had that same issue occasionally as well. But it seems to be cleared up since I deleted everything
