Ouch. Planning on sending and paying for repair or replacing the glass on your own?

In that case, you should take some bereavement leave.

    Oh noooooo

Personally, I am known for dropping my phones... they always fall and break one way or another, very often. but the Z10 has not fallen once since I've had it! I'm so proud of myself. It's that bad lol...

I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope you have some kind of insurance at least...

If you don't have full insurance on the phone, it will be very costly in relation to the replacement cost to service it!

I agree with some other posters. This bad boy didn't shatter like that if it was inside an Otterbox Defender (which I'm assuming that's the one because the others don't come with holsters). I've had phones do cartwheels down a flight of marble steps and came out damage free because of my Otterbox. I call B.S.

I find this hard to believe. One of the main things that turned me off about the iphone was how often I saw this easily happen to all of my friends. My Z10 feels extremely sturdy. I doubt this would ever happen from a simple fall, don't want to find out either way.

Just wrap it with Duct Tape, that will hold it together. Nothing duct tape cant fix.

Did you step on it when you went to pick it up??? That seems pretty bad for falling out of the holster with an Otter box case.

Some of the reviews of the Z10 claimed that it had the new Gorilla Glass, while others say it didn't. As far as I could tell from my own hands on with it, it doesn't appear that it does.

    Survey says?

The OP mentioned that the Z10 slipped out of the otterbox. I suspect that it wasn't protected on impact.

Hence why the glass is cracked.

I use to be a cellphone repair tech for about 5 years and that phone has more then one hard impact spot on the screen. That screen has been hit 3 times. I have never used an Otter box cause because I feel they make the phone 25% bigger then it actually is but you would think that Otter box has a warranty for your phone since you probably paid 50.00 for the case. I am curious to how it was dropped??

Hey you could do what some people do on this site... just take it back to your carrier using your retention plan and tell them you want the Q10 instead. Tell them you can't use the touch screen.. **sarcasm**
