Well 3G with good signal strength seems more than adequate for most purposes, including streaming (non HD) so why bother with 4G, for most things?

Because you're paying for it? Because your phone takes advantage of it?

LTE is required in some congested spots where there's so much demand that 3G gets clogged.

Ran out of data ( I use LTE), so I turned it off. Instead of ending the work day at 20% battery, I ended it with 80%...granted I used the phone a little less, but that's quite the difference! I usually end the work day around 40% even if I don't use the phone.

    So, a little update,

But before the update, I would like to thank everyone who chimed in, there were some really brilliant comments that I wanted to "like" seems I will have to use a PC for that, CB10 app doesn't allow it??

So about 3-4 weeks ago I did a factory reset. First I made a small backup, then wiped the device.

Then used it for some weeks before coming to any conclusions.

1.) the main change I see is that now the lock screen notifications are gone, I mean they are there in the settings, and I've tried everything but they just won't appear on the lock screen.

2.) Battery Life has not improved not one bit, even though I started off with NO installed apps, and then just added a couple pages worth of apps, carefully not installing anything android. Still terrible battery life.

3.) earlier the phone would switch off at 3-4 % battery remaining, now it's completely random, under 30% is the danger zone, suddenly at any moment the phone can turn off, It may happen at 28% of it may happen at 0% there is so much excitement and thrill now in my life!

4.) I think it's the CPU that is the problem, it is less powerful than is actually needed for the device, and when you use it for anything, it needs to run at full capacity causing it to heat up and throw a tantrum.

In any case I'm still at square one, still pathetically sad battery life, when you can't get through a day with even a spare battery, you know something is seriously messed up.

I'm starting to believe I'm holding it wrong.

As you can see 30 minutes of standby drained 26% of the battery, at 100% charged it tells me 4 hours remaining there really is no hope.
The CPU screenshot was taken when it drained 26% in half hour.

Long press on the post, there's a like button on the native CrackBerry app (a heart).

My last 48 hours. Moderate usage for work calls, emails. Some Web browsing when away with work (quite often) and for Crackberry too. Easily get a days usage out of my Z10. No, I rarely plays games, or do heavy social media on it, but still a great phone with a decent battery life for me.

My Z10 lasts 18-20 hours with moderate browsing, music, heavy hub usage, chats, so I think this is not bad.

Pity you didn't post before factory reset. I would have sort you out with battery issues.
I wouldn't rule out hardware issue in your case, but most likely it's the settings.

    That's about right
    33% = 1 hour
    99% = 3 hours

But it will shut off randomly too, so there's that

What? Browser uses 200% of battery life?!
    How is that possible?!

With the Z10 it depends A LOT how you use it!

With light use, which means: most time in standby, using my home wifi and switching off LTE (4G) I get around 48 hours of battery life
With average use, which means: a bit of everything (Facebook, some browsing, texting), I get around 10-12 hours.
With heavy use, which means: LOTS of texting, browsing and watching videos, I get 5hours or even less of battery life!

I don't find the battery life on the Z10 all that great. It's maybe acceptable, but I wouldn't recommend a Z10 to someone who uses their phone lots.

I've yet to speak to a Z10 owner who hasn't complained of battery issues. I carry 2 and never get more than 5hrs out of either one. Also gets very hot when plugged into a charger, again this is very consistent with what I've heard from other Z10 owners.

My Z10 does fine. Probably 8-10 hours.

My wife was having issues with hers. But we determined the problem to be weak WiFi at work causing the phone to constantly reassociate to the WiFi all day long.

Once she changed to LTE only the problem went away.
