better yet, pickup a playbook on the cheap with native hdmi out and use your awesome BB10 device (with bridge) as a remote to control your video, web browsing or whatever.

confession - I paid full price for the 64 gig playbook two years ago and still have no regrets. albeit, it has been relegated to mostly a media player since I got the Z10

Tried in both my inputs. Nothing. Just a black screen. Its odd. My PlayBook used to work. But now the z10 doesn't. Could be my cable.

Sorry if this is obvious, but I believe you also have to turn on HDMI from the bottom of the settings / display screen

Gotta use the old traditional HDMI cable. So sad, because this is 2013 already.

yes, real sad that some people don't have dlna compatible tvs.

anyways, this is what I posted in another thread. might be of interest to someone.

you'd have to get a supported adapter for your tv (ie samsung or lg), or a dlna compatible receiver if no such adapter exists. I did a quick search and found this:

    Sony Super Wi Fi 3D Blu-ray Player | 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Super Wi-Fi | BDP-S5100 | Sony USA

looks pretty cool. if I actually streamed stuff from my z10 i'd buy it. and I am sure there are cheaper alternatives out there - just have to look.

The best solution I have found is using a Couch Connect cable (Couch Connect). When ordering, make sure you order the D-A cable.

Yes, I understand that this is possible; the same is possible with the PS3. I am trying to understand if I can mirror the whole device (not just media) wirelessly if I want to demo it for example on my bigscreen tv.
You're talking about Miracast and, no, the Z10 doesn't do it. The Q10 and Z30 do. You can mirror via HDMI on the Z10 and play media via DLNA.

Can anyone post what's it's like to connect the z10 to a TV? Does it support 1080p? Can you watch a movie with audio? Does the Z10 become a controller or can you mirror the OS on the TV? Just curious..
1). It's awesome. Whenever I do it, folks are impressed!
2). Yes, 1080p is supported via HDMI
3). Yes, you can watch movies with audio. I downloaded a bunch of movies over the holidays for $.99 & watched them on TV!
4). Yes, you can mirror the OS on the TV. It's cool to see all of your apps, browser, etc operating on the big screen! With YouTube, you can use device as remote while playing videos on TV. You can turn off preview notifications while connected (in settings) to protect privacy

It's just a cable right? If so is there anything special about it?

The cable is the thinnest and longest I've seen. Some of the cables I bought on Amazon were too short and some didn't work for me but this one worked. It delivers full 1080p.
