So since Octoberish, that I can remember, Ive been having an issue with the compass. Not that I use it much. but ArKick and StarTracker aren't correct. Im on VZ, and with the newest update I hoped that would fix it. After Wipes, reloads, different compass bars, whatever you can think of, I tried. No go. So I called for a replacement, updated it and tried it. Still no go. I don't know if it's just bad luck and I should try another. I'm wondering if anyone else has has any issues. Ive seen sporadic reports, but nothing definitive. (this is not related to the December sensor issue either). Any ideas???

Compass hasn't been accurate since day one, (Feb 2013). Not with official updates or leaks and isn't now STL100-1.

Mine is almost reversed from what it should be. I haven't actually had cause to need it. Just noticed from messing with it. Got the gadget box app too and that compass is off the same way.

I don't know if it's a hardware issue or sensor. When I talked to VZ they tried looking up any known cases and could find any. When I talked to BBRY, and told them what I already did as far as wiping, re-installing etc. they contacted VZ and said to replace the unit. As I said the new/refurbished one does the same thing. I was beginning to think I lived in some type of magnetic force field but my PlayBook and my wifes iPhone's compasses both work.

Same problem here with my Verizon Z10, compass never worked right. Got an ATT Q10 I'm testing for work and its compass operates as it should. Both devices are running 10.2 1.1925. I'm guessing some percentage of the STL100-4 models have a bad hardware sensor. The BlackBerry Virtual Expert doesn't have a test for the compass, unfortunately.

Maps and navigation are not affected by this problem, thankfully. Not sure how many apps rely on the compass' directional orientation vs GPS coordinates.

Well, Im going to try another one when VZ receives the Z I sent back. In the mean time, I've been chatting in the BB Community App and spoke with someone, I guess from BB. I mentioned that it would be great to have a compass test in BBVE and that got the conversation started. He said he will look into it and was asking in detail about the compass issue. Hopefully something gets worked out.

So I received my second replacement from VZ. So before updating the OS the compass seemed to work with the OS that was shipped on it and after a small update. I think it was 10.1.2xxx? After the updated to .1925 and restarted, the compass was back to being wonked!! So I'm guessing it's a software issue? Maybe just STL4, CDMA, VZ??? is anybody on VZ and doesn't have an issue?? I would really love to use Start Tracker and ArKick again.

I don't use the compass either, but when I point my phone at the sun when using Start Tracker it should be front and center on my phone. I usually have to turn 90 to 180 degress to have the sun show on my phone. This is just a simple example because anybody can find the sun but if it's night I don't know what stars I'm looking at, that's where I need help, but my help is never right.

Want to put in my 2 cents. Star tracker all messed up about 180 degrees messed up. Calibrating the compass is not working. Z10 stl4 verizon.

Same problem here with my z10 stl100-4 on Verizon. Problem started when I upgraded to os 1925. I was hoping os 2174 would fix the issue, but unfortunately this is not the case.

Guys anyone had a solution for this problem? I use my compass. And many dependent apps on my phone, at first I thought that the app was corrupted, but now am sure it's the phone.
Any suggestions? ( I restarted reset and wiped my phone)

The same problem here, on Verizon with 2174. Been the same route with wiped clean and reinstall - no difference. Verizon has no answer , BlackBerry told me that it will be addressed in future software release.
My compass worked fine with 10.1 . Since 10.2 install - problem is alive and well.

The issue has been resolved with os 3175. I updated my z10 using sachesi more than a month ago and the compass works great, even all the other apps that use it!
