Does the device require a certain charger? I have a USB charger in my cat which worked perfectly with my Torch but it isn't charging my Z10.

It's sort of the same when on my notebook. Slow to charge.

    Any ideas?

If the charger is a micro USB charger it will work fine.
Albeit, charging via the wall versus a computer would charge it quicker...

BB10 devices require chargers with a micro USB connection and a minimum output of 750mA.

BB brand chargers all say the output on the side. For a different brand, google the exact model number to double-check.
But that's my guess: it's too weak and you need a new car charger.

    Sounds painful for the cat.

True usually, but depends on the PC. Some newer ones have one of the USB plugs specified as high-output.

My new Sony VAIO does. Now maybe one day I'll actually spend 2 minutes to figure out which one...

Youre right. Typically it is the one on the back versus the one on the side(s). I have USB 3.0, it help for data transfer, very fast. But I've not noticed much when it comes to battery charging. Then again I typically plug it into the wall to charge...

It's strange that it was fine with my Torch but not the Z10. I was out today using the maps (great btw) but it was plugged in the entire time. I noticed when I for home that it was almost dead. Not bad considering it was 5 hours of use.

Alternatively, you can use a pb charger...it charges at 1A, rather than 750mA.

Actually the PB charger outputs 1.8A.

But I think OP was mostly looking for a car charger anyway.

I have a USB cable from Best Buy. One end goes into the cars USB outlet and the other into the device. Maybe it's the car not having enough amperage?

Does anyone know which of the USB sockets on the Apple MacBookPro Retina is high output? (There is one on each side. and they are both USB 3.0, if that matters.) I think they may both be only 500ma and I'm not sure how well they charge my Z10. Certainly not as well as the charger than came with it.

Do you have a newer model vehicle? The use port that come in today's newer cars don't charge phones for some reason. My sister 2013 doesn't charge her iPhone mor my Z10. You will still need to use your own adapter.

I use my PB 1.8A charger too. No issues with it, as it has been re-branded the Rapid charger for BB phones and Tablets.

John, as per post by Bluline79 above, you will need a car charger that plugs into one on car's electric sockets, like where the old school cigarette lighter goes.

Again make sure you get one that outputs at least 750mA. The OEM BB brand car charger that 3_M4N just posted above is highly recommended.

I just got that to replace my old BB car charger that only output 500ma. Lovely build on the new one and also has the fantastic option of the full USB port for other devices.

Yes it does, because the PlayBook charger outputs 1.8A while the Z10's stock charger outputs 750mA, i.e. less than half of PB charger's.

All BB brand chargers will always state the output.

PS if you ever need to add something you forgot in your post, in the CB10 app just long press your original post and select the pencil icon from action menu on right to Edit.

My car charger was fine for my 9780, 9900 and 9810, and even for my Z10. But I just loaded the leaked OS for my Z10, and now whenever I use it to charge my Z10, it says to use the charger that came with my device, or else my device will charge slowly.

I'm guessing that the car charger was slow to charge my Z10 before, I just didn't notice it, and they added this little warning message with the new OS. Now I am considering buying a new car charger to charge my Z10 better.
