I never purchase movies for my playbook or Z10 due to how restrictive it is with regards to moving them to another platform - that being said I couldn't pass up the savings for the movies being offered right now. I purchased 6 movies for a total of $6 (minus taxes).... I saved probably around $110...

Anyway.... I can't play any of them via HDMI connected to my receiver or via "PLAY ON"

    Surely this is a glitch/bug?!?

I'm running the latest leak - so maybe possibly it's that...

I surely hope this isn't a license issue where they are restricting the movie ONLY to be viewed on the Z10 screen and not on any other format.

Any one else experience this on the recently offered $0.99 movies? Would like to know if someone running an officially released OS is NOT experiencing this and I can chalk it up to a bug within the leaked OS.

    Thanks.

I have been able to play them via hdmi; but they are encrypted to the extent you can't play them on your computer, playbook etc... I am on a Z10 10.2.1.1055

And, I was really hoping I could move them to my playbook which was a bit of a disappointment. All attempts to decrypt, convert thus far have failed. But, I am still trying nonetheless.

    For 99 cents I can't complain.

Someone else was mentioning the same thing. Restart the device and try again. It should work...

    Hmmm - thanks - I guess I'm not running the latest leak - I have 10.2.1.176.

Just did a reboot - something odd is happening - I can't even play my storymaker videos as I'm getting unexpected errors.

1.176 was my first installed leak - and I wasn't impressed that it took me 3 hours to rebuild my accounts and settings etc... I really don't want to update again.

At any rate - the movies play fine on the z10 itself - just not over HDMI or Play On ... maybe I will have to update the OS again.

I'm running Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.1055 and I've watched a few things over HDMI this morning. So far so good. May be the leak in running.

    Well this is craptastic...

I just bought a Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSD HC I to accommodate the new movies - could it be the card perhaps?

Will have to do some experimenting....

Sorry for the diversion but this thread got me interested in possibly purchasing a few films. So, looking over the choices, some movies are 99 cents to buy and $4.99 to RENT??? Huh!

I heard it doesn't work with receivers due to drm (possible signal interception and copy i guess), but hdmi plugged directly to your TV should work

I've never purchased movies or music from the BlackBerry World store...if you purchase them there, do they save onto the memory card?

I can help you. I know exactly what your problem is.
If you hook the HDMI directly to your TV - it will work. It will not work if you try to pass it through your AV receiver. It seems to be DRM related in that it is designed to only work directly with a DISPLAY DEVICE, NOT something that could potentially record the stream, like an AV receiver or something other than a display device. Try with your TV - you will see.

Edit: Sorry, emstardeluxe, I see you have already answered.

I am downloading my first right now. It is saving on my sd-card in the Video folder, in a subfolder named after the movie.

Regarding the original topic, I will be curious to see what happens on my end. I pipe hdmi (from z10 and Playbook) into a 5-input hdmi switcher (with remote) and then pipe that into my receiver. But I also use the BB Music Gateway to get sound into the receiver. But the download is slow and after more than an hour, I'm only about halfway through the download.

    That was it!

Which is good and bad.... bad in the sense that the one TV I had it hooked up to doesn't have ARC...

So I guess that means I can only play them on my 55" Sony that does! Gosh Darn

    But thanks again!!

Yes - they save to your SD card if you have one installed - I only had a 4 gig from my Torch days - so I upgraded yesterday to a 32 gb thanks to blackfriday at Bestbuy.

That's odd about the AV receiver. I put mine through the AV receiver and it seems to work fine!

I'm using a Onkyo mid-tier receiver - you would think it would just pass through - but clearly something is going on - it plays for about 3 to 5 seconds then bails.

DLNA is a no go for these movies and my TV.

    Sad sad sad.

Oh well, for $0.99 I can't really complain hah. It makes me question if other purchases from BlackBerry World react in this manner.
