Wondering why I can recieve a 5 MB file yet I cannot seem to forward it?
It all depends on what email server you are using. Some SMTP servers will not allow an attachment of that size. Even MS Exchange has settings to limit attachment sizes. Check with your email provider.
And you've checked it's not a restriction with your email service? IE. Have you used that email address on your desktop computer to send attachments of that size or greater? Shouldn't be an issue. Is it giving you any kind of error message?
EDIT: See above. Posted at the same time! :)
Its super lame. If you try and email that 5MB file it will fail, but if you send as a txt it will go through just fine. I have no idea why thats the case
SOLVED!!!!!
The issue is in the web.config file found in Program files>Microsoft>ExchangeServer>V14>ClentAccess>Syn c.
Look for this line:
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="110240"/>
This was set at 10240
You need to restart server.
Thanks all
You administer an Exchange server and you had to ask this question???
I run an exchange server and I will advise that this question is being asked on more than just this forum. I have actually talked to RIM on this and I have just informed them of this issue. Default is set to 10240 for outgoing when using active sync, something you BES guys know nothing about
So to be clear, that policy is something you can set in the Exchange Management console (GUI) when setting up A/S for your users...and if you didn't know about that, you do now.
The policy also exists in Exchange for other clients and can be user specific as well...so you have two places at least to set these policies.
I work in I.T., too, and from time to time I ask a question that yes, maybe I should have known the answer to prior. But, as you know in I.T. it is always evolving and thus sometimes we simply forget things and thus ask more as a reconfirmation of said procedure.
Do you not forget things from time to time in I.T?
These two actions are in no way related.
