I am unable to install blackberry link on my windows 8 and this means that my computer cannot communicate with my device. It downloads the software but cannot for some reason install. I have tried the .NET 3.5 Framework option too, but still nothing. Can someone please help me show how to install blackberry link on my computer with win 8. I have tried the 6 and 7 versions of blackberry link. thanks.

Well, I can't seem to figure out how to back up on it or anything else like sync contacts or calendars. It only seems to exist to transfer media. I assume I am doing something wrong, but it mystifies me.

Does your Z10 appear in the bar at the bottom? If you click or hover (can't remember which) you will see the backup and restore options.

I have it running on Windows 8, no problem. What do you mean when you say you tried the "6 and 7 versions" of Blackberry Link? It's brand new software, there's only one version (with an update) that I'm aware of.

Download the file, do not run it from within IE. Make sure you are in Desktop mode (windows key+D). Open windows explore and go to your download folder, find the installer downloaded, right click on it and run as administrator. Does that work?

Thanks for getting back - I would try one last thing before I need to put this more into a private chat: Windows+D key into your desktop, Open File Explorer, right click on C: drive and click properties. Click on Disk Cleanup - don't start it immediately - put checkmarks in front of the Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Temporary Files (very important) and click OK. This will cleanout the Temp Folder under your username. What might have happened is that the extract of the ZIP file from BBRY will not allow for overwrite of existing files. In your installed programs Link or BB Desktop is not loaded is it? Or any older files for previously owned BB phones? So this really concludes the public help as otherwise we might get into a lengthy discussion on how to work Windows 8 and I am more than willing to help you out to my best abilities but for the sake of sanity please private mail me so we can dive a little deeper. Once the solution is found you can post the solution here.

    Thanks,

    Al

I have installed Blackberry Link on 3 different Windows 8 computers-no problems. It could be a problem with the Windows Installer-had a problem installing another program on Windows 8 and had to clean-up Windows installer on one of the computers which I downloaded from Microsoft web-site. I don't think this is a Blackberry Link problem at all-works fine with Windows 8.

    Hi,

Thanks again for getting back. I have tried the instructions provided by yourself, but the problem persist and is not going away. I have no idea as to where the problem might be, but the same encrypted msg pops up right after the installation wizard disappears. You can reach me at [email protected] and your help is very much appreciated.

    thanks again,

Hopefully aelann can help you out. Sorry for your troubles, bizarre. I'm with those that think it's an issue with Windows 8, not Blackberry Link. I've had serveral permissions issues with Windows 8, I'm still figuring out how to turn off all the annoying features. It's close to Windows 7, but just different enough to drive me a bit batty. Once you figure out the problem and find the solution please post and share in case someone else has a similar issue. Good luck.
