You have to make sure you exit the app and then reopen it. I'm on Z10STL100-3/10.2.0.1761 and my apps have stayed dark.

It's only on some of the newer 10.2 leaks. It's not for 10.1.

Open BBM wipe top setting....after setting dark theme restart the phone. my Z10 on leaked 10.2.0.1743.try...try...

I recall reading in the 10.2.0.1725 leak thread that the contacts may not show the dark theme if settings are restored -- that seems to break something. If you're in the position that you need something restored with the settings, there's not really any fix. One of the downsides of loading a leak.

BBM Channels is not the issue here. BBM Channels only affects Dark Theme in the BBM app. The issue with settings (including theme selection) not "sticking" in CONTACTS comes about for SOME people if they restore settings after loading the leak. The fix is to restore data and media only, and re-do your settings from scratch. This is a confirmed work-around (by a number of people - including myself) for your exact issue.

Restart the hub, and set texts on dark. Go to contacts and set them on dark, and reboot it..

Tried restarting the hub to avail. Going to try this confirmed workaround. Then again, may just wait for the official release. Thanks guys.

Tried it -- no joy. I think this is another case of "your mileage may vary". Not a huge deal, though.

I suspect that is my issue, as the "dark theme" does not work for me either with Contacts, and I'm on .1743 (10.2). But I did restore my settings.
Meh... I prefer the light theme still.

The "hub" work-around mentioned here, did not work for me either.

I am having a similar issue on a brand new Z30, namely, Contacts is stuck on dark and won't switch to light despite trying all the suggestions above. Bought this to replace my Z10 and already unhappy with the migration (iOS much better here sadly!)
I am running an official version of 10.2 (OS version 10.2.0.183).
I used BlackBerry Link to do a "Switch Device" but it did fail on step 7 saying that I was using different BlackBerry IDs (no!) or that something was corrupted. Had to reinstall some of my apps manually.
Any help is appreciated as it is tough for me to read my contact list in the dark theme mode...
Having spent all day trying to fix this, doing a device wipe and starting from scratch is not an option (I did try device switch three different times with no luck!)
And now both Wunderlist and Nectar no longer appear to be on BlackBerry World either = (

No dark on contacts either- even with official 10.2 Verizon. Only BBM, SMS, and Calendar.

Even more so, if I change any other settings in Contacts (like turn off display of Facebook/Twitter contacts, etc.) they stay, but if I try to change to dark background, it changes everything back to default on.
