    I want to use the NFC file share capability with my wife's 9900 but she has no data plan. Can I Use it through WiFi?

    Part of me is screaming that I am misunderstanding how NFC works so I'm hoping that the world's most awesome community can help!

    Sure you can. NFC file transfers work via bluetooth.

    Well, yeah, it has a super short range.
    You need to be close to tap the phones, tapping them establishes a bluetooth connection between them and the transfer begins. No need to pair them first.

    Oh, and some android phones use wifi direct instead of BT.
