It's wasteful running a service/app which has a constant connection to the BBM servers, even if you don't use it.

I'd also like to disable BBM. I just have a single contact and it makes no sense keeping BBM for that - I can use mail instead.

    Stamps are pretty costly though.

I agree. If you don't use it why have it taking up resources.

As of now my friends the only way that I can think of deleting it is to remove the bars... but I don't know if that will ruin anything else... if you're feeling gutsy... go for it... worse comes to worse you reload the os..

I'm qualified to say so because I own a BlackBerry10 device

BBM is BlackBerry and it doesn't use excessive resources either.

You can disable it in parental controls.

just one warning, when you enable parental controls you will need to reorganize your apps and folders (only the first time)

If I was in his position, I'd be more interested in the saved space. My Z10 has precious limited storage space for apps.

I tried reloading the bar file for BBM, it's still marked permanent. It's a no go.

When you have a device perpetually almost out of room like I do, finding a bunch of apps to delete is often critical

It might be that legacy induced memory paranoia...checking that none of the precious few MBs have gone.....have something to do with this.

When one is used to checking what MBs size the app is before checking the app itself, it is somewhat of a shock to find the apps for BB10 are so huge....huge in legacy speak.

When I started looking at my Z10, and saw such as BBM was 20+ MBs I nearly fainted.

Now of course I know I don't have to free up space by deleting things. Although as such as BBM could be deleted off legacy devices, it would be nice for the user to have the option to remove things they don't need or use

Those are the quick wins I do

I would love my next device to have a 32 mb or 64 mb option.

No need to delete BBM. It's the best messaging app. You need to get more contacts on it so you can use it more frequently.
I believe regardless of whether you actually use it or not, it doesn't drain your entire battery. It should idle after no use.

It doesn't drain battery or resources when sitting idle
