OK one last test from me. The opportunity presented itself, and was too much to pass off.
Lots of colours, low light, all phones on auto settings with no flash on. Artificial light in the studio.

So here we go, tattoo inks, 3 camera phones, which is which? And which is your favourite?

Agreed first picture is most natural, and pic 1 is the closest to what the eye was seeing.

All 3 are decent photos. Second picture looks better than the other two. At least In my eyes .

In the CNET picture review the Z10 always had more vibrant colors while the S3 was washed out and the iPhone 5 was more natural looking. So I concluded that the iPhone 4 will be similar to the 5 since they have the same manufacturer and the same goes for the S2 and S3. I prefer the second one as the colors pop out more.

I'd say that the first is Z10, second is IPhone, and last picture is S2.

I personally prefer the iPhone followed by the Z10 followed by the S2, however, I do think that the contrast in iPhone picture is higher than in reality, and Z10 might actually be producing a more realistic photo.

Im not gonna guess, but from passed pics, the Z10 seems to bring out red AALLLOOOOTT, just a hint

On thing I have noticed doing this comparison, then viewing it on the different devices is that each device (as you would expect I guess) displays the 3 differently, and the decision of which pic is best changes.
So I guess in one respect, as great as the camera may be, the display device counts too.
Of course printing them would be a different matter.
Maybe that's why opinions vary so much on the images too.

Agreed that they're very different, but they seem to have been taken at slightly different angles and distances, so it's reasonable to assume that they would be. Not sure if this is true, but the pics make it appear so.

As for a guess, I'd agree with HKain7. iPhone 4, Z10, GS2.

Distance was almost identical each time, as for the angle, the lighting would not have changed, no shadows of brighter sources. So is as accurate as a hand held test can be.
I think it's more about the capabilities of the handsets than small changes to angles.

Understood. Just saying, small changes like that can change the results a bit. Still an interesting test nonetheless.

Well, time to disappoint, surprise and make some feel smug.... the answer is.

First image ink1 is the Galaxy S2
Second, ink2 is the iPhone4
And finally the last image, ink3 is the Z10

My preference of shots is a the S2, then the Z10 and finally the iPhone4.

One quick observation though, the Z10 image viewed on the Z10 itself is crystal and very life like. Just loses its edge when viewed on other devices. Strange but true.

wow i am surprised, z10 just didnt get the colors the way i would prefer them
