All,
So I ended up doing a DIY screen replacement on my Z10 stl 100-4. I had dropped it in the gym and the screen was cracked. Check out my crackberry forum thread on the DIY

The phone is working perfectly fine without any issues. I have already run an autoloader and done a destructive re-install of the OS after replacing the screen. All the apps load fine. The touch screen is back to working the way it should be.

The problem now is that the camera shows a black screen. It is completely black. Both the front and the back cameras show black on the screen. Clicking on the 'take a picture' button that shows up does nothing. I get an error stating 'the camera cannot be started' sometimes.

Any ideas??

did a diy repair on my Z10 as well, noticed the camera and area is pretty sensitive hopefully you didn't tweak anything.

You made sure to hook the camera lead back up right? Checked it twice?

Uhh... which lead would that be?

I made sure I re-linked ALL of the leads that had to go back on. I think there are total of 4 ...

looks like you are going back in to double check your work.

I can't remember off the top of my head where the front camera one is. The back camera one is pretty obvious.. it sticks right out of the camera module.

I gotta think there are more then, 4.. it's been a while since I've had it open but off the top of my head.. front camera back camera, lcd display, lcd power, vibration motor, speakers maybe.

Go back in and make sure they are all not only plugged back in but plugged in properly.. maybe unplug, check the contacts and plug back in.. make sure you didn't tear any of the ribbons.

pretty sure when i did it i counted 5 leads but i could be wrong, one on the top gets tricky because when you put back in the board it covers it.

Yep. 4 leads. Probably best to open the phone again. Check the camera connector once again. Failing that it has to be the software.

There were 5 leads. I double and triple checked them. I also tried to run BBVE to see if the problem was h/w related .... but BBVE says it doesn't have permissions to access the camera ... when it does. Attached are screenshots.

Any suggestions?

Update: I tried camera bar files from different versions but all of them throw the same error. The camera cannot be started.

???
