I found an ad for a brand new Z10 for $200 on Craigslist. I'm obviously gonna turn it on and make sure it works but what else should I be looking for to make sure I'm not being ripped off? I wanna make sure I'm not getting a dev unit or a stolen phone or anything like that. I'm on Wind and also would like to know what models of BB10 phones I can use with this carrier. I don't know how to look up that info. I wouldn't mind knowing all the BB10 models that work on Wind though.

    Thanks in advance, all!

First off, those Dev Alpha devices looks very different from the Z10, but if you really want to make sure, check Settings > About. Also check if you can send simple SMS, BBM messages, emails. Don't forget to inspect the speakers, earpieces, physical buttons, etc. You may want to run the BlackBerry Virtual Expert app to guide you. Goodluck on your purchase!

You need to speak to Wind. Their phones work on a different frequency than the Big 3 (Rogers, Bell and Telus). I tried to get a q5 to work on it and they told me it couldn't. Only the q10 since it supports a penta-band feature. I think the z30 may also support this.

Also, be careful buying on kijiji or Craigslist. I bought an open box q5 from a third party mobile shop on kijiji and after using it for 4 months, Virgin Mobile blacklisted the phone. When I asked for anymore details they wouldn't give me any except that it was possibly stolen. I think what some people do is that they get a phone under contract, take out insurance on it, sell it and then in a few months they report it stolen. They collect the insurance, they have the money from the sale and in the end, the buyer gets screwed because they're out pocket since the carrier blacklists the "stolen" phone. This is not the only way it could happen.. but in the end if it does happen.. there' s nothing you can so about it because usually you never see the seller again.
In my case I was lucky. Since it was a store I was able to get a hold of them again and when they learned what happened, they returned my cash.

There is also a website you can use that will tell you if the phone is reported lost or stolen.

Doesn't sound like a good deal....
For the same price you can buy it brand new direct from Blackberry.com. Even if you pay taxes and shipping you at least get the new warranty with the phone if you buy it from BB.

Check out Z10 models on Wikipedia for WIND.

Craigslist for cellphones is a crapshoot. There are so many stolen, damaged , lost phones. Do yourself a favor and buy from Blackberry direct. I did, it cost me $212 total w/shipping etc.

If you decide to go further, meet the seller at a Wind shop and have them verify the "serial number" (I never remember the initials for that number) is not lost or stolen.

The promotional code from last month is still valid, $100 off listed price. Google blackberry promotion code. The code is also listed on berry flow and starts with SAVE then followed by numbers.

That's my luck for ya. Oh well. I was getting it for a friend anyway. Maybe I can work my magic and get it cheaper from an employee at BlackBerry.
