So, no Miracast for Z10. Too bad as many of the blu ray players I'm looking at have it. So, instead, if the player has wifi direct, and assuming DLNA, can I still stream my vids from my Z10 once we get wifi direct? I would be using it at my cottage where I wouldn't have internet/router.

I'm not sure you're thinking of the connections between miracast devices correctly, there are senders and receivers. The Q10 is a sending device as would be the blu-ray players you're looking at and a television would be a receiver for those devices.

The intent behind miracast or wifi direct is to take the display of your screen and deliver it elsewhere, it doesn't work in the other direction.

My thinking is that the phone would connect with the blu ray player through wifi direct so that phone content can be shown on TV (?) Almost like DLNA. This is from the manual of an LG player:

If you get a Samsung smart bluray player it works like a charm. Just connect the bluray to the TV put both on the same Wifi network and then go to device on menu and you can stream any music or video.

This is basically DLNA. As I said in my original post I would be using it at the cabin where there is no wifi network.
