You can go in to the settings and turn the display time out down to 10 seconds, that's probably your best bet.

Yeah.. agreed.. but i would suggest sending it to a BlackBerry store to get it checked out if it's a hardware or software issue..

As pkcable said, its a one option to set the display time out to minimum. But I would strongly recommend to take it to service centre and get it replaced.

I'm kind of surprised that there's no app or internal method of "power off" which devices like the Playbook had. Do the api's permit an app to do it?

If you are the original purchaser, you should have at least a one year warranty???

I had that happen to me too.
The button locked the device for a second and then it would just unlock again.
Left the battery out for a few hours and the problem was resolved and hasnt returned
