I was charging my phone then i wanted to swap batteries and did so. I've noticed that the shutdown button stopped working after that (happens all the time at different occasions) and removed the battery and disconnected the cord... After that - my poor bb doesnt show any signs of life. Any ideas what can i do? Or should i just give in on it and move on? Is there at least a possibility to get data from it? Especially from encrypted sd card?

Phone does not work with or without battery, doesnt work with or without charger and has absolutely no signs of life...

With the battery inserted and the charger plugged in, what happens? Any LEDs? Anything on the screen? Leave it plugged in for a while and then check again.

Yes, when pluged in - completely nothing... I have tried Samsung, HTC and Nokia chargers - no difference And i have charged with BlackBerry/HTC/Nokia/Samsung chargers, they have same characteristics so i dont see the difference

The cube or charger as no difference if the amp is the same, but the blackbery usb cable is different.. just to let you know

I guess you try a different battery as well.. If the phone is not reconized and nothing no light nothing with a new battery.. it's not a good sign.

Maybe someone else have an idea, because I don't, sorry

This kind of procedure was recommended a while ago to calibrate the battery.
I tried this once, and I guess I was lucky not to brick the phone.

Well there ya go.... if you read the BlackBerry handbook it says to only use BlackBerry chargers.

    I use my i9100 charger w/o issue.

Pretty sure using different charger is only dangerous on iOS - it can really hurt!!

Just saying what they've said. Its not recommended to use chargers not built for blackberry

Funny, I use other chargers all the time, on all my devices. iPhones included. For years now.

    That included the z10.

The cherry on top was using the official BB charger that came with my 9900...after a month when I plugged in the charger the 9900 would display the warning that I apparently wasn't using an approved charger and to use the one the phone came with. I plugged in the Apple block and a generic USB cord and it worked. So much for "oh well you didn't use a special BB charger so it's clearly your fault". Heh

Now, using a COUNTERFEIT charger while wet from a shower can be dangerous on iOS, or any other device...but I consider that user stupidity, not a flaw in a device.

The big problem with counterfeit chargers is they often lie about their power output. In other words they make one charger that out puts... whatever. And a bunch of labels to match what you want to hear.

So im back with bew z10... I gave htc one a shot, yet that thing is terrible at productivity and lags (bla bla bla octa core processor my a...). so htc found a new home and im back to BlackBerry

As for quick feedback, its very easy to switch BlackBerry to iOS and vice versa, but switching BlackBerry to Android now feels like going back to archaic times and this is comming from an old time Android fan

Oh and my new z10 box says it was manufactured in 2014

Make sure to charge the phone with BlackBerry premium charger. Fastest and safest.
