I've been hanging on to my much loved 9700 and decided to bite the bullet and switch to the z10. It's pretty cheap in the UK now. Got an unlocked one for 265 from expansys.

I dove straight in and set everything up rather than doing a device switch via BlackBerry Link. Now I've discovered link doesn't allow me to specify what to sync across and I need to figure out a way of getting my contacts across. I can't use the media card option as that's only available for OS7 and my 9700 is running OS6.

    Can anyone help?

Try loading Blackberry Protect on the 9700, do a backup and once you can see that backup on the protect website, use the one time restore from Protect option in OS10.

Thanks very much for your help guys, all very useful. I think the best and easiest solution was blackberry protect but for some reason I had difficulty connecting to the server to send my data from the old phone. Possibly because of the BBM for Android rollout as the protect app uses BBM features. I could be wrong.

In the end I decided it was taking too long so did a full device switch using BlackBerry Link which worked perfectly. Interestingly the transfer kept a lot of the settings I'd already made so it's got some on built intelligence rather than overwriting everything.
