I have the music gateway in my car so that I can stream my music as well as a hand free bluetooth speaker phone that was built into the car (not in the radio just mounted in the ceiling)

The problem I have is when my Z10 is paired with both of them and I am listening to music it does not seem to pick up the calls when they come iin. Usually the hands free will ring when a call comes un and when I hit the button in the hands free it will answer the call. Now when I am hooked to my BlackBerry music gateway and a call comes un it only rings on the phone itself and not the hands free speakerphone.

Is this a limitation on bluetooth, the phone, or is there a bug?

    Thanks

Not sure, but can attest that in my experience BT has its limitations. For example, when Z10 is connected via BT bridge to Playbook, and BT headphones (Jaybird X), sound cuts in and out. It may simply be a limitation of bandwidth rate as much as managing all the interrupts.

This is not the case...at least I do not think it is as my wife's Iphone 5 pairs with both the speaker phone and BlackBerry music gateway. Then when a call comes in the music stops and the speaker phone rings. You can answer the call on the speakerphone, talk and when the call is over the iphone goes back to the music playing from the BlackBerry music gateway.

On the Z10 the speakerphone will not ring only the phone does.

Am I missing something is the bluetooth different on the Z10 than on the in 5?

The problem I have is in my car it can do both phone and stream music. Worked fine with my 9930 would stream music and when calls came in it would stop so i could get the call. With my Z10, my car seems to get confused if i set up the phone and the BT audio and will kick out my phone settings and only recognize the BT audio. I have to choose one or the other...

Have you tried changing the sequence of your BT connections? Hence, can you force the Z10 to connect to car (first) prior to BT Gateway, or vice versa? Also, which version of the BT Gateway, with or without NFC?

My understanding is that, by specification, BT will allow multiple devices to be paired but only allow communication with one at a time. Seems your setup is trying to do two at a time. Interested to know if this worked prior to Z10, as I have a BT Gateway (w/NFC), a hands free headset at home, enabling a comparative test of your arrangement using Z10 vs 9930. I won't bother if you know that the BBOS phone already works for your arrangement.

Additionally, it seems that the BT specification gives priority to the first paired device, which could be giving the incoming call interrupt priority to the BT Gateway instead of the hands free device.

I actually did not have the gateway before the Z10. But as I said before this setup works with the iphone 5. U will try to set it up again but pair the hands free phone first. I would be curious to see if your setup with bbos works also though.

    Tony -

Here is what I did to mimic your setup to the best that I could. First I paired to Motorola H17 BT headset (HFP and HSP profiles only, no A2DP profile). I am assuming this is comparative the the profiles in your hands free (phone only, no music) installed in your vehicle. Second, I paired to BB Music Gateway and began streaming music from Z10. Incoming calls to Z10 resulted in pause of music player and ringing on both device and headset, as would be expected. After this success, I turned BT off on the Z10 allowing break of BT connection with both devices, then re-connected, however this time I connected to the Music Gateway first and H17 second. Again, incoming calls to Z10 resulted in pause of music player and ringing on both device and headset, as would be expected. With that said, I was unable to duplicate the issue that you are experiencing. It appears the Z10 is working as it should, but perhaps there is and incompatibility with the particular hands free device you use in vehicle. Not sure what I can do to help. Lastly, I had a blonde moment early suggesting I could mimic using my 9930. As this was my previous device, I no longer have service enabling incoming calls, for a test. Sorry about that. Glad to help if you can think of anything else to try. - Cheers

Great thanks for the feedback. I have since factory reset my Z10 and started from
Stratch. Seems to be working as should be now. I tried the same thing you did and it seems to work now. Not sure why but maybe an app was an issue so I will install apps one by one to see if it is

    Thanks for tour help.

Ill probably put myself in the same situation. Have a BlueAnt headset and will get an aux connection put in my aftermarket speaker so I can use the gateway. So it looks like I need to make a change on the headset connection so it only gets phone calls, and everything will work like a charm?

I have gotten all my apps installed and everything still working fine. Think there was a glitch in the initial software or something. You should be fine.
