Does anyone has this problem? Everytime when it reaches 30% battery it directly shuts down the device and have to charge it again, do I have to change the battery or is it hardware problem? Thanks

That is not normal - I would say it is either an issue with the device reading the battery level or the battery.

On a wi does laptop in would do a full discharge charge cycle to recalibrate... but i do t think the Z10 does that.

I have noticed my battery level jumping up if I reboot... the battery is fuller than the OS thinks it is.

Your battery display percentage? Either way, it sounds like dead cells in the battery. Either the battery is bad or you didn't do the break in correctly.

Thanks for the quick reply, maybe I should change the battery? And the battery itself drains so fast, like it decreases 1 percent in less than one minute only. Well what I noticed its not normal at all

See if you can get a new battery. Maybe also get Battery Guru (I know paid for) to see if there ja a viable excessive power use, however it does sound more like a bad battery.

I dont have Z10, but this issue is happenning wih my Playbook too. There are several threads about this question to PBs. Suppose that is the same issue that Z10 and PB has, so... the advices are:
1) Help with assistance, if in warranty time
2) No warranty: try Batery Guru (I have 2 PBs. 1 with 2 yeas and no issue, other 1 year old and shutdown with 9-12 % batery level). I could differentiate that first PB has voltage level >= 3,55 until level 0% and other "bad" PB shut down when voltage battery level falls to 3,47. So I think that is:
a) or battery is part defective or
b) software level meter isn't acurate

For 2a) you can really try other battery. If it isn't fix your issue so you can yet positively have a second battery for use.
For 2b) Thread advices are: wait until 20-30 cycles for regularize battery oerformance or use heavily battery for shutdown, then recharge, then turn on device (several times). This procedures can be increase level meter accuracy for battery and regularize % level indicated.

For me, in Brazil (sorry poor english) with 2 PBs importeds, I only could make 2b) advices and YES, increase battery level accuracy. I get the 1 year old PB with shut down issue when battery level are 16-19%. Now days isn't fix totally issue but I can get until 6% (and sound notification) before shut down.

Too, I read some guys paid assitance for BBRY for calibrate in lab level meter software. I dont know more about this.

Me too ( but now 39% it shutdown. I think this is from the os problem because you get same condition like me, I try to wipe device can't solve the problem. Maybe we must do reload device software

Now the indicator about 35-40% shutdown directly, But my battery not drain fast, even longer battery life..

I have the same problem, the battery indicator doesn't work normally. I think this is kind of bug with the BlackBerry recent software update. Because it just happend since I upgraded my software to 10.1.0.273 for STL100-1.

yes. I am facing problem of shoutdown very quickly after getting 20% message after updating to 10.1.0.1720 on STL100-1. I am sure it is this update problem, may be rectified in next update.

Same here using STL1 after the last official update 10.1.0.1720 the phone shutdown at 20% plus that i started to have random reboots

Yes same version device and os, 10.1.0.273 after update, it's not battery calibration problem but the os bug.. hope the blackberry team will fix it with the next update os.

Not so much the battery hit the charge circuit which seems to take a full charge discharge cycle to set new limits. At least on laptops it actually works - I'm or sure about the Z10 though.

Plus, the battery is bot fully empty when the PC says 0% - it just reached the predefined limit.

My Z10 just froze, restarted while at 30% ish battery left. After reboot, battery almost dead, GPS or location service running. Wtf is going on?

The only goof here is you, since battery calibration resets the count in the circuit board on the battery just like a weight scale recalibrates every time before you get on. Google it and you will see that plenty of manufacturers offer official pages to show consumers how to do it.

I also have this problem with battery. My BB shutdown when battery have 20%. I try downgrade OS to version 10.1.0.1627 and 10.0.10.1023 it didn't resolve problem. My battery is new (about one month) so I can't believe that this is battery failure, but I don't know what can I do now....

Same here, OS .1720, STL1, clean install after phone wipe using BlackBerry Link, nothing restored from backup. Phone shutting down exactly at 25%.

Do not think it is a battery problem, because it lasting even longer after .1720 update.

Best Tip when installing new leak or OS. First off all intall with full battery and then let the battery go down till 10% and charge it. next time charging just ones around 10% and after that it will be OK
