How much RAM does BlackBerry Z10 has?
I've searched for it and found that Z10 has 2gb of RAM, but I'm confused that in "About" my device shows total memory of 1gb.

Total memory is RAM? Or I'm getting it wrong.

Here's a screen shot of my device showing 1gb of total memory.

The Z has 2gb of ram. The dev alphas only had 1. This would be a clever way to get people to post their imei #'s, haha.

A silly question maybe, can you tell me the difference? Why Dev alphas have 1gb of RAM?

Yes, where it says total memory, that is RAM. It stands for Random Access Memory

Because they were developer devices and I'm sure BlackBerry didn't want to "waste" the money loading them up with hardware. Even though it probably would have made sense to do so. Honestly, there's lots of info on this subject in the forums. Just use the search function

I would not want to discourage you, but unfortunately RAM IS memory.
He definitely owns a DeV device.

A last question lol(doesn't want to make another thread for this question though), my device lags a little. Ram can be the cause for laging?

Yeah ram is why you are lagging bb10 is meant for 2 gb ram. So just having one will lag you up.

You've got an engineering IMEI. If this isn't a Dev Alpha, then somehow you've got your hands on one of the original pre-production Z10s

Actually 1meg is what BlackBerry first was going to use but later changed it to 2 megs.

You'd only be able to sell it privately to an unsuspecting person, as it's an engineering device, it has no market value to traders.

Full BB10 experience isn't the best on that older hardware, especially if you want to have a few apps open at the same time.

OP, remember it didn't cost anything, so just buy another Z10 and keep this one as a souvenir. Please be considerate to other fellow humans and don't sell to it to unsuspecting buyer. Do unto others what you will like them to do unto you.

Right, I'm not selling this one. I'm going to order Z10 in white next week.

Absolutely. As you can see from my pic, my Z10 uses over 1gb of ram. I would imagine that your device must lag pretty bad. If you can get your hands on a production model, you will enjoy your BB10 experience a lot more

I don't understand how people find these kind of comments but somehow manage to miss the dozen or so responses, haha. It's been well established that RAM is memory. I'd bet 5 bucks that someone else will post the same thing though
