Will z10 ever support otg????

Apparently, the USB host function does not work on the Z10 due to hardware limitations.
Sources:
BlackBerry USB Host Mounting - BlackBerry Z30This is done on the BlackBerry Z30, running OS 10.2.0.1791. Of course, we have also a BlackBerry Z10 running that same OS, but it does not work. Speaking with BlackBerry, we found out that the BlackBerry Z10 controller does not fully support USB mounting, even though there have been sightings of it, but as for now, its being omitted by them.

No. The hardware physically does not support it. The Z10 does not feature a powered USB port.

I thought therr is no hardware support for otg under z10...
Z10 10.2.0.1767
Partially true, depending on what BlackBerry decides to do. It can't support it natively, but if they were to develop a dock with the necessary USB port then it's possible.
But... I highly doubt it. At this point I think BlackBerry sees the Z10 more as a prototype BB10 device than something they're going to dedicate significant resources to in the future.

It can get irritating purchasing all of BB's prototype devices. I thought the Playbook served that purpose. They even put in that troublesome port that tends to break but never implemented the software to allow otg to work. Now they've done the same with the z10. Oh, well,
With the right adapter it would be possible to power the USB device - still BlackBerry decided to **** us off by not including the necessary drivers in the Z10 image.
Search on amazon for usb otg adapter (you don't need to order one, it does not work).

So much for mobile computing huh. No USB OTG, no miracast, no wifi direct. Disappointing.
It would be nice if blackberry let out enough schematic to allow someone to hack an externally powered solution. Would need a middleman adapter for inserting power, which could be cabled or battery. Probably doable, just not commercially pretty.

I bought an externally powered hub, on the off chance it might work....no dice
I don't think they had the Z10 in mind when they talk about this vision.
Honestly, I think they pushed out the Z10 because it was quite obvious that they couldn't afford to wait a few more months to release the "real" flagship devices. Notice how it took 3-4 months after the BB10 launch at the end of January 2013 for the Q10 to come out? And the Z30 came ~5-6 months afterwards, with the lower-tiered Q5 (and even the BB7-based 9720 device for emerging markets) released somewhere in the middle?
I normally don't feed into conspiracy theories, but given the glaring similarities between the Z10 and the last version of the Dev Alpha devices prior to launch (and the weird, unique screen resolution that only the Z10 will ever support on BB10 moving forward), I think when they decided to delay BB10 to 2013, they basically took the Dev device they created, cleaned up the exterior look, and started mass-producing it. In that process, they ended up using cheaper (though admittedly more available) components for the wifi radio, USB port, battery and screen than they were anticipating for their "actual" flagship device. Bla1ze and Co. had reported on the Aristo (Z30) device long before the Z10 launched, and I don't necessarily think BlackBerry intended for their first flagship touchscreen to be as large as the Z30, but I can see a clear distinction between the two Z devices. Whereas the Q5 was announced as a lower-tiered Q10 device, BlackBerry kinda just quietly delegated the Z10 to the same role once the Z30 was officially announced.
Now don't get me wrong, I love my sexy Z10 in white (she likes when I call her "sexy" ;) ) and I harbor no ill-will towards BlackBerry for my own decision to get the Z10 when VZW finally decided to launch it at the end of March. With the current state of the company in the consumer market, I'm not sure when the next touchscreen device is going to be available. But at the same time, I'm not really one to swap out phones yearly anyway (I came from a Storm 2, which I had since April 2010 and was my only other smartphone :| ).
That being said, I think that, functionally at least, the Z30 which launched with OS 10.2, an insane (but non-removable) battery that is wireless charging-compatible (at least on VZW), has Paratek radio technology included, USB-OTG hardware support baked in, Wifi Direct and Miracast hardware support, and FM radio included (also in both Q devices but eerily missing from the Z10, hmmm...), is what the Z10 was supposed to be, had BlackBerry managed their time better and/or had more time before needing to launch BB10.
So yeah, long rant-ish post aside, I think the Z30 was the device that was intended to usher in BlackBerry's vision of "Mobile Computing," coupled with xBBM (on Desktop machines as well), to bring BlackBerry back into the forefront. Too bad that pesky problem they have with execution was never solved though... -_-

I feel a bit let down to be honest as one of the vaunted features, and certainly on the "later update" list was OTG on the Z10. It was disappointing to find the playbook didn't have the feature but they kept saying it was going to be part of the Z10's updates :( .... .grrrrrr liar liar pants on fire
If commodity products already existed, they would have released it already. Something hacky needs to be made.
I recall these statements from media and public speculation, but not from official BlackBerry statements. Maybe I missed them, but I would appreciate a link if you have one.

It is just easier to not turn it on in software....less consumers complaining that I doesn't work. only a small portion of users even know what otg is, let alone could find a powered hub..
I'd like this too for my Atrix Dock. Pls someone find a hack!

I love my Z10 too. I'm just disappointed that they many newer device can get many features that I could not get. I don't think it's a big deal at first, but now I realized I have missed many features by buying the Z10. I would wait next time. I pre ordered my Z10. I should have bought the 30. :(
We are being punished because we are the early adopters.
Yeah, but in the grand scheme of things, I don't have any regrets for being an early adopter. I couldn't imagine another 6+ months struggling to use my Storm! :cant-watch:
More than likely, I'll probably end up getting the Z30 in the next few months if there aren't any rumors or device roadmaps that pop up in the next little while. Even if they did and I commit to the Z30, I likely won't swap it out with a newer device unless there are significant hardware-dependent improvements.

So instead of writing a new thread on this... was anyone able to get the z10 working with OTG?
I see a lot of writing regarding the hardware not having a powered microusb port due to the different microusb port designon the z10, but does software have anything to do with it as well - is it at least supported with the latest 10.2 operating system??
I mean has anyone tried using a power usb hub with an OTG cable into the z10 and see if it works or is it beyond a powered micro usb hub issue involving software and further hardware capabilities.
I'd really like to know if someone has given it a shot using a z10 with 10.2(.1) and determined for sure that's it's NO GO/failure.

Tried a powered USB OTG adapter an also different USB hubs. It seems to me that BlackBerry has removed the OTG support in the Z10 build.
