It often blinks and natural screen colours show up, other times prints / traces of recent app(s) are visible in the background, even home screen wallpaper and keyboard are visible in the background of any app / hub. Sometimes it all gets high blurr and makes it impossible to recognise anything.

I've tried hard resetting but it didn't work. Even on the restarting screen behind the blackberry name and logo, the same shadows / traces / prints are visible. Looking for a solution other than factory resetting / wiping out entire data.

Want to know if the damage is permanent or temporary / fixable. And what caused it.

In the beginning it used to go away after pressing the power key to lock the keypad and the by waking it up by sliding.
Now sometimes it acts normal when battery saving mode is off, and screen brightness is full.
Only unusual thing I did before it all started was setting an alarm with vibration mode on.

As to what caused it, it's impossible to say. I would recommend backing up your data and using an autoloader to get a fresh copy of the OS.

Hmm, sounds to me more like your screen is on its last legs. My advice would be start looking for a new LCD, and/or someone to supply and fit if you don't want to DIY.

Alright, I'll try refreshing the OS as soon as possible. Thank you !

I've tried factory resetting though, problem is still the same but there is no more blinking and blurring. Since then the grey layer has become permanent.

I noticed something new, while playing the videos the brilliant sunlight parts and the overlapping ads are of actual colour and so does everything else which somehow overlaps like alphabets on the keyboard or the buttons on the home screen are not affected, everything else which is deep, pretty much looks like a negative or is in it's darkest shade.

Still not sure whether it is a hardware or software issue.

I'd like to believe that it's resolve able and what you recommend would work.

It has been 3 years, since I've been using this set.
Some of the screws have become rusty with the time (+ water) and probably they won't move.
I don't think that I would be able to find a replacement screen either.
Although replacing my phone is something I've been thinking about lately.

As new unlocked are fairly cheap, about $100-$120 if you can find on Kijiji, etc. that replacing screen plus aggravation and time is almost not worth it, that is if you have to have a Z10.
