For some strange reason yesterday I decided to look in the settings on my phone under Blackberry Protect.

I'm getting a message that BlackBerry Protect is unavailable. Attempts to locate the phone using the BlackBerry Protect website fail, as do the commands to play a loud noise and display a message.

Username and password are entered correctly.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

    Thanks.

Reboot the device, make sure you have the BlackBerry dots besides your connection and try again.

May sound like a dumb question but, do you have BlackBerry Protect on? You must leave location services on in order for it to work properly.

That was odd, the BB dots weren't there.

Nice to know BB Protect can fail at any moment with no warning.

    Thanks, a reboot solved it!

Those dots mean that you have connection to the BlackBerry servers, necessary for things like Protect and BBM to work. It sucks if you don't have a connection, but it makes sense why it's necessary.

I understand what they mean. I had BBM and Remote File Access working, so I'm not sure why BB Protect wasn't.

Protect didn't fail. You didn't have access to BlackBerry's servers. Don't ask me who is to blame on this one as I have no idea.
