I know this may not be am appropriate venue for this, but I thought it was interesting.

I have been catching up on the first season of HBO's The Newsroom I'm preparation or season 2. Throughout the entire season everyone is seen using BlackBerry Bold 9900s.

Towards the end of the season there is an NSA whistle blower that leaks information to the managing editor. Making Charlie take out the battery on his phone, he says "Dont worry, a better model is coming in six months". This takes place during the Casey Anthony Trial (to set a time frame). I'm wondering if this is a secret and subtle ad for BlackBerry 10, or just a simple joke. Either way, it seems The Newsroom is pro BlackBerry, and that is never a bad thing.

Taking the battery out of the device renders the device unable to be snooped on by spy agencies. I think the hint is that they will soon be able to overcome this also!

Im guessing its just a joke as this would have been filmed late 2011 to early 2012. But you never know!

They weren't using 9900's though, for most of the season it's been 9000s. They had trackballs for the most part.
