BlackBerry 10 in the wild

I was recently at a conference. All Government and Federal types from all over the world. At the final night closing every one did the same thing, phones out on the table in front of them so we can talk and check our beloved phones for calls / updates.

At that time there was eight of us at the table. One Samsung, two z30 (first time I got to play with one... it was cool), my z10, a q10, one iPhone and the rest were BlackBerry legacy devices.

So, as a CrackBerry guy, I started looking. It was basically 90% BlackBerry in various forms. More q10's than I have ever seen. Cool to play around with as, I like the Z10. All loved the BlackBerry BUT, anyone with kids - the kids had Samsung or iPhone. It's the kiddie phone, which was explained to me. The BlackBerry had the security requirements the Government guys needed. No interest in Apps, I had to explain side loading as they never heard of it. One guy actually loaded Instagram that night. He later deleted it because he uad no use for it.

Anyway. BlackBerry will always be considered the Professionals standard. Samsung is right behind them. The one constant from all the BlackBerry users was "will they still be around in another two years???". I'm pretty sure that's on everyone's mind.

ive seen many many people i would consider 'professional' sporting androids and iphones.. and ny 'professional' with a bb , it would be a legacy os bb. thats what i have seen so far. obviously as far as security is concerned blackberry is probably the way to go.. but as far as setting the professional standard.. i dont think that exists any longer. professionals are very happy with their androids and ios's.. blackberry is not seen in that way anymore. imo

Most professionals in my organisation and industry of banking and finance use legacy BlackBerry devices. Bold 9700 and 9000 are the common ones now but they are given to us by the bank, we don't have a choice as such. A lot of people use their Blackberry's specifically for work and have an iphone or android for personal use

Thx for the comment. I should have been more accurate. This was a global Government conference. It seems that Government workers use BlackBerry exclusively.

Just thinking....... as most of us have the BlackBerry as a free work device, is that a consideration??? something is better because it's been paid for?? You have no vested interest as it is given to you??

US Government agencies are going with other devices - from the Post Office to the DoD.

This is a good story to hear. Up in Canada for my upper management meeting, same thing happen, as soon as the break came everyone pulled out there phones to check for updates and email. Generally the room was filled with blackberry's Q10's, me being the only one with a Z10.
