I have been using the search icon a lot lately for online searches, contacts apps etc., and it's extremely useful and efficient. When I want to Google something, I type it in the search bar then click on the Google icon. Results are displayed in the browser. This is a lot faster than opening the browser then typing in your search.

I'm not sure if many of you use this function...if not, give it a try.

Totally agree! I use it regularly to quickly search everything. Extra handy when your not sure where what your looking for is saved.

I agree that it is an incredibly useful feature - it's something I use daily. My one gripe with it (when compared to legacy devices) is that you cannot directly input URLs. The current implementation means that you can only input search terms.

Having the ability to input (and then navigate to) the URL directly from the homescreen was incredibly convenient. I really hope that this functionality is added in a future update.

This mirrors my experience. The attached picture would suggest that it's new functionality as it's clearly shown under 'Actions' - whereas a URL from your history would show up under 'Browser'.

I'm running 10.2 and the url does not have to been in history. I just tested it with a random website and worked fine. Maybe you should update to the latest 10.2 Rev, if works very well...a lot better then current 10.1 update.
