Hi. BlackBerry link just randomly stopped working. It wouldn't let me reload device software so I tried to restore it to factory settings. This seemed to go ok it started a security wipe then waited for device to restart, the loading bar filled and thenBlackBerry link crashed, I disconnected the device but the security wipe carried on for an hour. Then showed the connect to PC screen. I then tried reloading the software from a windows XP laptop and it all worked fine.
I have tried to repair BlackBerry link on the windows 7 PC but it Keeps telling me it can't find the MSI file then rolls back without changing anything.
I then un installed and re installed but it keeps crashing when I try to sign in to BlackBerry ID. Any advice?

    On the windows 7 PC?

Seems extreme seeing as the PC is working great for everything else and is well maintained.

Uninstall BlackBerry Link from computer. Wouldn't hurt to turn PC off after this. When you start the PC again, go to BlackBerry and download the Link software again, install.
Try to see if Link works then.
    Report back what happens.
You may also wish to flush you DNS as the Link holds it's own address and that could be the issue.
Let me know if you need to be walked through this process

Nothing extreme ... simply rolling back the registry to a previous state... all reversible... try it or not... your choice

Start>Run, type"cmd" (without the quotes), then click OK or press the ENTER key, which will open a command prompt.
Type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotes), and press the ENTER key.
Type "exit" (without the quotes) to close the window.

Sorry, but I fix a lot of computers where folks have run the System Restore. That's kinda near last resort IMO.

Well, the dns is just like pipes and they get clogged and if he is having issues resolving the DNS, then it is a good SAFE option. And no worries, I run a hosting company, so IMHO here too ppeters914

    I'm so glad it helped!
Please also feel free to do this regularly (once a month) as it is safe and just kinda acts like Liquid Plumber for your computer

Wrong... last resort would be an Os reinstall

Last resort... near last resort... makes no difference... should be done to omit factors in the beginning
