Briefly - 0700 full charge.
Couple emails, texts, that's it.
With home screen visible, put phone into holster.

1215- Battery is 20%. Back of holster very warm.

What am I missing here?

Reset your device for starters. Normally that fixes the issue.

How long have you had the phone?

It might be in the account syncing stage, drains fast and gets warm. Take Comatose11's advice and give it a few days.

Well if the device is new, it would be adjusting to your usage archiving files, learning your habits etc etc. After a few cylces of charging it would stabilize. Not letting your battery die completely also helps. There are many tips out there on how to extend your battery life, e.g screen brightness around 30% (my setting) and LTE off if coverage in your area is spotty for instance.
