    Hello Crackberry Folks,

I had bid farewell to blackberry and crackberry soon after my 9700 got old and my playbook's screen got some 'Ghosting'. Ever since I've been moving around android devices with my heart set on blackberry. Last week I lost my LG optimus g, so id like to take this opportunity to get back to blackberry world. To fill in the void created over time, I have decided to go with Z10. So after some research, I found that z10 stl 100-01 has 45nm chip and 100-02 has 28nm. Theoretically S4 should have much better battery life, Could the owners give me some feedback about battery life among 01 model and 02. I had used tegra 3 (40nm) and honestly the battery life on that one sucked. Here in my place I can buy stl 100-01 but if the battery is not good, I would consider purchasing 100-02 online. Please suggest.

    Thanks.

The battery life on the Z10 isn't good no matter what model you pick. A bigger battery would be highly recommend if you do get one.

Thanks for the information. Does it last a day? for moderate usage? or does it drain sharply even when its idle?

The Z10 will probably be the best device that you have ever owned, at least for most. However, yes the battery life is modest at best. For me 12-24 hours with moderate use, 8-12 with medium use, and 7-8 with heavy use. I have the battery bundle for my Z10 and never worry about battery life.

Enjoy your new Z10! Definitely the best device I have ever used. Fastest browser on the market, best touchscreen keyboard, and a beautiful UI are just a few of great things for BB10.

you questioned stl 100 1. I would recommend looking around the forums on that one. Many have complained because they are not getting all the features the other models are getting.

I definitely recommend the battery bundle or an expanded battery. Other than that you will love the Z10 experience.

That is no longer the case. Recent OS updates have significantly improved the battery life. My battery lasts the full day now, before I was changing around 1pm.

We get a max of 12-13 hours at most with moderate use, let's says 2 hours of Web browsing, an hour of calls, a little bit of BBM and some texting and WhatsApp.

It's just the brightness. In the 100-1 the option to warm the colour is not present. Rest everything is there. Don't worry about getting the stl-1

It's not using a qualcomm cpu which could be a problem.

The Z10 is great but has a relatively small battery. I would say most heavy users are not getting great battery life from what I read on here. But I'd say the battery life is acceptable. Some folks say they can only make it 4-6 hours. Which I think is abnormal. Then some claim crazy battery life. Anyhow. The battery is easy to swap out. No problem for me.

Battery life for me is between 8-9 hours if I'm using it moderately. I'm sure I can get more if I switch it to 2g but I always have it on 3G only.

I am a heavy user. I get a full work day out of my phone with brightness at 3/4. The first year I used the Z10 I was lucky to get 5 hours, 10.2 brought significant battery improvements. Gaming with heavy graphics and watching movies will burn though the battery faster. If you plan to spend 4-5 hours doing that you will need a second battery.

I agree. There are specific app types (games/GPS nav.) and conditions (poor cell coverage) that can making comparing user A's battery life to user B's impossible. Not to mention the battery quality (age), re-charge patterns, etc. There are really so many variables.

But yeah 10.2 improved things I'd say on average. That's always how BlackBerry has been even in the BBOS days. It always take them some time to iron out the efficiency. I'd expect this is true of other device makers as well when launching new OS versions.

Actually the battery management for weak cell signals has been significantly improved in 10.2 as well.
