Well it depends on what apps you are looking for. You can try sideloading if it helps. Naming the app(s) you are interested in would help others give advice/info.

I already side loaded instagram, chase mobile, and scorecenter. Do you know if there is an apk out there for the pinger app?

What big name apps do you have in mind? I think pretty soon all android apps will be working on the Z10 once the new jelly bean is released in..I think in Os10.2.
In the mean time developers are aware that android apps are being used on BB10 and are making them more compatible. Furthermore, I believe shortly after BlackBerry proves its market viability (post Q1 and Q2 Earnings reports), all the big name apps will be available native on BB10.

I hear you. I hope the browser can manage in the mean time. You can set it to desktop mode in settings for a better experience, but unfortunately (and understandably) the big companies need to see solid evidence that the blackberry has enough market shares/ staying power before investing in app support.
I personally think the pros of a Z10/OS10 outweigh the cons and I look forward to each new update as they make the phone so much more.
