On another unrelated note, I'm a little disappointed that jdhooghe changed his avatar from that terribly awkward photo that made me cringe every time I saw it...

When I get home, I'll take some screenshots of the Skype client on my 920 and the Skype client on my Nexus 7. There apparently was an update for WP8(it's still a preview release though) on March 19th. Before the update you couldn't log out of the WP8 client, now to log out of it you need to select the option of "switch clients" which indirectly logs you out. With that update they finally included high definition, front and rear window support(one of the cool features I was talking about) and landscape and portrait mode(another cool feature). You also couldn't run it in the background before this update.

Skype for windows phone 8 was released on the 12th of November 2012, a full five months ago.
Windows 8 is terrible I had to call hp to get downgrades right so I could install windows 7. What a disaster of a OS. In the future designers will use windows 8 as what not to do.

You see that the android version has more options during video chats, status options and the ability to go offline while still logged into your account vs. the WP8 version where you need to "Switch Account" to log out

If Skype releases a native client then we'll most likely be given a crappy version and then five months later get one on par with WP8 now. Getting an android port for now is best and if they want to work on the sidelines to create a native client and eventually release that, that will work great.

The little I know about app development is that if a big company wants an already existing app ( on other platforms) they can have it out in two weeks time.
If msft wanted this to be on BlackBerry it would have been out at launch or even before.
They clearly don't give a rats bottom for BlackBerry.

There is always the chance that BlackBerry is slacking or not accommodating some of these developers but I highly doubt this is the case here.

It will eventually backfire when users realize there are other options occasionally much better than Skype.

Regarding msft can be added that with the epic fail they had with the w8 platform they definitely have more serious issues to deal with than the BlackBerry version of skype so maybe the executive "Green Light " was never given due to all their internal mess...

Just my 2c on the whole skype drama.

It might be taking so long as Microsoft might be creating a new Skype native application for OS10. A friend at work was able to side load the Android version onto his Z10 but said he had to leave the application running for it work, if it was going to be a port I am sure they would have released it already.

Also you may not know but Microsoft has merged MSN Messenger into Skype, so that too might be causing the delay.
