    Hey guys,
its more than a year now since the Z10 hit the marked and Im excited what will come next.
Does anyone know some news about future devices in 2014? I read about the Jakarta which will be an low end device. Im more interested in an Z10 2.0 same size but better specs.
Please let me know if you know something

    Thanks, Chris

    Haha true that.

From what I've read on this site is that the new ceo will focus first on enterprise then consumers.

I would imagine that means devices may be second or third priority right now.

I haven't read or heard anything about rumored devices for a while now. To be more accurate I haven't read or heard anything that sounds legitimate or has any evidence to back it up.

Until today that is. Looks like the BlackBerry "Ontario" (the rumored Z50) might might actually be in the works:

I'm hopeful that this means they will still be coming out will a high end touchscreen this year.

I totally agree but it should be an 4" device

I don't really care either way. I'm perfectly happy with the size of the Z10. On the other hand the Z30 isn't overly large and uncomfortable to hold.

One way or the other I do want it to be 1080p and have Gorilla Glass.

N4BB is confirming from sources that BlackBerry is working on some new flagship devices with pretty awesome high-end hardware specs due out by summer 2015.

I read something about that. It said that one device is testing by blackberry now. It has a 4cores processor, 2g ram and runs 10.3 version.

Wow that's interesting. Those specs look amazing.

My concern is the release date. Summer 2015 is way too far off. That would be more than 2 years since the Z10 and 18 months since the Z30. By then the iPhone 6 will be out, maybe even the second generation of the iPhone 6. The GS5 and maybe even the GS6 will be out.

BlackBerry need a new flagship touchscreen device before then. I would think that to be competitive BlackBerry need to have something out by end of summer 2014. If their intentions are to compete in the enterprise market they need something to show those enterprises that they are still a going concern in the long term.

    Just my opinion.

That works out perfectly for me because I just got my Z30 in January and I am perfectly happy with it. Summer in 2015 would means I will get myself a free Christmas or New Year gift for early 2016. I hope BlackBerry hit this one out of the park.

My only concern is BlackBerry once again relying on the past to guide them into the future. The talk from BlackBerry about keyboard phones and such leads me to believe the next high end device will be qwerty. After the Z30, they will be missing the boat if they don't launch a qwerty and touch device. They just need to produce less phones and cheaper. Perhaps Foxconn will help them that way. Cheaper phones and better able to control volumes.

Well if it is in 2015, let's hope it'll be with 2015 specs - they can't afford to get slammed again for releasing a flagship that's a year old in specs, despite it not being a major factor with bb10 anyway, but the bloggers and reviewers do impact purchasing decisions and any negative press is bad in BlackBerry's case.

The os itself will continue to get even better and we need more people like JC making videos and writing reviews to show how much it blows every other OS out of the water hands down.

Two flagship touchscreen devices are mentioned, the O-Series (Ontario) and the B-Series. It sounds like the Ontario (possibly the Z50) will be out this fall. The B-Series seems like an early concept with a targeted launch date of Summer 2015. Also a higher spec device than the Z50. Of course we also have the W-Series (Windermere, and possibly the Q30) aiming for a 2014 Summer launch. As we all know this is the flagship Qwerty device.

    Estimated Timeline:
    Q2-Q3 2014: Q30 (Windermere)
    Q3-Q4 2014: Z50 (Ontario)
    Q2-Q3 2015: B-Series Touchscreen Device

Provided that these devices will actually make it to market and on time.

I think that sounds like a good time line for BlackBerry.

I am curious to know where you got that info from. I haven't read that info anywhere.

Would you mind posting your sources?

Last year when BlackBerry filed papers with the SEC (after the earnings call), they noted 2 flagship devices (qwerty & touch) which were due out this year Q2 and Q3. This was covered by I believe CrackBerry & N4BB. The documents identified them as the Windermere (qwerty) and the Ontario (touch). Through other articles it was learned that the next devices would most likely be named the Z50 and Q30. Then I factored in the new information in regards to the octa-core 64-bit device for next year. Since the Windermere and Ontario are supposedly launching this year, the B-Series has to be the new flagship for 2015. I created my Timeline from this.

The Q30 launching in Q2 also makes sense, because it is rumored that 10.2.1+ (or 10.2.1 MR, 10.2.2, whatever you want to refer to it as) would be releasing at that same time. We also know 10.3 is releasing in the fall which is the same time that the Z50 is supposedly launching (Q3). Time for a new Timeline:

    Q2-Q3 2014: Q30 (Windermere) (10.2.1+)
    Q3-Q4 2014: Z50 (Ontario) (10.3)
    Q2-Q3 2015: B-Series (10.?.?)

Remember this is not official. I compiled this with what information is available right now. BlackBerry has not confirmed any of these devices publicly.

Since, there is enough evidence to suggest a Q30 releasing in Q2, I would hold off until then to make a purchase. Worst case scenario it doesn't come out, and you buy a Q10. I'm dying to get my hands on a Z30. I know there is also evidence of a Z50 in the fall, but I can't wait. So, as soon as AT&T gets the Z30, I'm buying it. I'll probably buy a Z50 too when it hits the market.
