I'm on the fence about getting a new SD card. I'm not running out of space as I have 16GB right now but it's a class 2 card.

Has anyone upgraded to a class 10 and seen a noticeable difference in read/write/access times on the Z?

Won't do you any good in terms of more memory space in device memory department as apps and OS software do not get stored in SD memory but should you have lots of photos, music, movies, videos and docs in device memory then it would help free up space in other data by moving th to SD card.

Here's a thread of the ongoing shotage of memory in device specifically the "other data" taking a big chuck of it:

'Other Data' taking up too much space

I don't really think that was his question, dude.

OP, yes, a class 10 card definitely speeds things up.

    I picked up a 16gb kingston class 10 for like $25 bucks, coming from a 8gb class 4.
When loading pics, I find it much faster. I have over 3000 pics and on the class 4 took it's sweet time.

also when transfering media its quicker.

much faster and the ability to record video in 1080p. Buy as much as you can afford, 64 gig preferrably as hi def recording are rather large files.

Remember the classes are defined by speed. Class 2 is 2mb/s, Class 4 4mb a sec. Class 6. Class 10 follow the pattern.

Speed. If you want high definition video, you need a card that can actually keep up, or you are not going to be too happy with the results.

Does 64gb work on BlackBerry Z10?

Yes. The documentation states 32GB but 64 works. You have to format it in the Z10. However, I and a few others had to format it in our PC before the Z10 would recognize it.

    Yes and the Q10.
That's the new "offical" max for both devices.
I don't think anyone makes a larger card
    Yet.

Does the Z10 support UHS Speed Class 1? From what I read, that is faster. If I get one, would it work? Or just stick to Speed Class 10?

Thanks, I totally forgot about the 1080p recording part of it. Another added benefit to a class 10 card other than access/read/write speeds.

Good to know my Z can get even faster! It's like a cheetah in a lambo.

Looks like there is some confusion on the different classes, but it appears it will work and is pretty much the same in actuality. Getting a 64 gb.

Honestly, I went from a class 4 to a class 10 and do not see a difference in speed read/write. I HAVE noticed an increase in heat though. It would probably come through noticeably if you're recording like 10 minutes of video in 1080p, but normal read write is not noticeable (to me at least).

Still recommend a class 10 though if you're really concerned.

Will 64gb slow the device or drain battery?

UHS Speed Class 1?? is it different from Class 10..... My friend has 32 GB micro sd card which shows both Class 10 & UHS Speed Class 1.

Please update as I want to buy one...

LP_Rigg is correct. Got a Lexar Class 10, and put my 1.8 gig video movie made by me on contract for a Univ. of Pennsylvania Law Reunion incredibly quickly and it plays as smoothly as on a pro desktop setup used at the reunion. Plus i have 14 gigs more storage for a total of 28 gigs free.
I'd have bought this sooner and kept more on it if I had thought of it 2 weeks ago. Price was $1/gig.

It arrived yesterday and I just had to format the card in my wife's Z10 and it works. FYI, only about 59.4 GB is usable on a 64 GB card after the formatting.
