Just heard a brief news segment from ABC on how the new iPhone OS7 is so different from all the previous OS's that:

"it makes older iPhones feel like new since iPhones have pretty much remained unchanged since 2007"

My response to that: Stupid idiots! Really? NOW they see the iPhone has been essentially unchanged throughout all previous generations? Wish that was what was said every year the iPhone was updated instead of just praising it blindly.

And what do they say when BlackBerry is completely re invented with BB OS10? Nothing but negative press...

    Unbelievable

So far BB10 ver 10.1 is very similar to 10.2. Let's see what 10.3 holds...

Let's see. 7 months since BB10 was introduced. 10.1 has been out for a while now and 10.2 is dropping soon. Did you misunderstand the OP?

They have virtually stayed unchanged except the camera and screen size. I thought was pretty cool that everyone around me with ip4s got the new OS... All on the same day

Let's see if our "entry level" Z10s will get updated in 3 years.

Journalists will write about what they know and in the states it happens to be Apple. If they all had BlackBerry's they would praise BB10

And no. I was right and you were wrong. See what I did there?

Why are you comparing 10.1 against 10.2? Seriously why!? You should compare BBOS 7 with BlackBerry 10. Don't compare minor OS update with each other.

I think most journalists have iPhones and are familiar with the IOS. BlackBerry is probably above their comfort level. I am positive they don't even know anything about OS7 vs OS10, QNX, hdmi, etc. What they have focused on is keyboard, screen size, market share and APPS. They avoid talking about the Web browser and productivity factor. I am positive most do not even realise that Bold 9900 was a touch screen keyboard combo. But who is to blame for this lack of public education (lack of marketing)??

    Curve 8320, Bold 9780, Bold 9900, PB 64gb, Z10

Apple markets it's products perfectly. Excursion is spot on hence why it's sell millions of the handsets in days. It's all about making your audience believe the excellence of your products.
Now the roll out of BlackBerrys is entirely different story.

    Minor is 10.2.0.1725 to 10.2.0.1761.

Major would be 10.1.0.xxxx to 10.2.0.xxxx.

Journalists know they have a large built in audience, when it comes to the iPhone and all they have to do is regurgitate Apple's marketing colalteral.

BlackBerry "just" needs to learn Marketing 101. Spend $500M of their 2.6B and let's get the word out. Last ditch effort. Now or never. WE know what BB10 can do. Only us "insiders" are in the know.

    Let's turn things inside out.

Advertising isn't everything if you look at Microsoft's ad campaign for their Surface product.

They dumped $898 million in ad spending, but they saw only $853 million in revenue. Would I say Microsoft knows how to put out ads? Hell yes, but ironically, their products don't appeal to those who seek the same while buying a Mac or an iPad.

Let's take a look at reality. BlackBerry spent $30 million putting up an ad during the Super Bowl so that should've worked. Right? No. It flopped. So increasing ad spending when you have a declining user base, or to cover up for irrelevance in today's society, as in Windows tablets, isn't going to fly. I like peak and flow as well as the keyboard, but what else do they have up their sleeve?

You're 100% right. It's not advertising. It IS marketing! Marketing will create effective advertisements among other things.

Exactly. Product pricing, sales strategy, and public relations are the big areas where they need to fill in. I can say for certain that there's a level of disconnect between the company and consumer.

    So...you've owned both a BB10 and a WebOS phone?

I have seen videos on YouTube, but I haven't owned a WebOS device. From what I could tell, they weren't that much alike.

10.1 was a pos os full of bugs and gestures in places people can't find them..

Just ask the 22 out of 56 people in my office who since January have left BB10.

Until BlackBerry can get their shiz together then comparing 10.1 to 10.2 to 10.3 is mandatory. And if you don't agree then have fun waiting for bb11 in February....

We are going in circles here. Whole number increments are major OS update. Even though there are many new features on 10.2 it doesn't mean you should compare it to 10.1 just like the way you are comparing iOS6 to iOS7. Compare BlackBerry 10 to BBOS7 instead okay?
