They announced 6.8, then in the call they said 40% are bb10, so the 2.7 is bb10 sales, 4.1 is bb7 sales, 6.8 total.
    DISASTER.

edit: and yes, those numbers are "Sell-in", as in shipped to carriers. They didn't announce "sell-through", as in sold by carriers to consumers.

It is both. 6.8 million total devices sold. Of that 6.8 million, 2.7 million were Blackberry 10 devices (Q10 or Z10)

I've been noticing more and more devices where I live so hopefully we'll see the numbers increase. That said, I think the TV ads suck. They don't show the benefits of BB10 in detail. Instead, they show people jumping and sliding across the TV screen.

The Z10 and Q10 launches were a disaster. They launched them in third world places like Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Jakarta before releasing them in America.

Huh? Those are not third-world countries. Do some research.

It isnt. Someone will buy them. Suddenky no apps isn't their biggest problem. At least we know their problems dont stem from them all watching netflix on their phones

Its true, their marketing has been poor at best. In light of everyone talking about security and privacy, BB should be express corporate and personal security, running applications in sandboxes, address the 'apps' issue, face time with an example of how it works (commercials show this so poorly while attempting to be artistic) drop the fluff and show people the strengths.

I didn't goto school in marketing, or whatever these people took. So what do I know

In jakarta, even workers with minimum wage as low as $220/month has a blackberry, with BIS only $3/month

    ...first world problem much?

I remember, years back, when I was in my 20s (and did not have a lot of disposable income), Apple tanked. Everyone I knew was weeping and dumping their stock. I waited four or five days, then went out and bought all the Apple stock I could afford. Monday I'm going to take a hard look at BBerry. It's not the same though. Personally, I'm expecting some stabilization. You have to look at the WHOLE market. Not just BBerry.

    OK - for clarity:

    They shipped:
4.1 million BlackBerry 7 devices (approximately)
2.7 million BlackBerry 10 devices (approximately)
    6.8 million BlackBerry Smartphones

    They sold to customers:
    6.8 million BlackBerry smartphones
They did not break out, but implied the sellthrough was higher on BlackBerry 7 as the channel was clearing out; and lower on BlackBerry 10 as new models like the Q5 were shipping in but not yet selling

I still can't believe that I rarely see any advertising for BlackBerry 10 devices..the only one I rarely see is for the Verizon Z10. I have seen nothing on the Q10. Advertising is a big plus. I see a WP advertisement atleast once or more a day. I really want to see BB pull through and make it, but I'm not sure what they are thinking with the lack of advertising etc..maybe they are doing more in other countries other than the US? As for the lack of apps, sure that is a problem, and I hope it's being worked on..I'm fine with the apps I have, and I have sideloaded a few that work okay, but unfortunately the majority of users aren't going to sideload Android apps. BB should hire me for marketing, I always feel like a salesman for BB when someone ask me about my phone, or asks me my opinion on which phone to get LOL..
