    As long as you're a customer it doesn't matter. I've gotten mine plenty of
    times with them too. What suprised me is that the OP is on T-Mobile and not
    an AT&T customer.
    I was really surprised, the only reason I called was that I had nothing to do and I had no funds in my paypal to pay for an unlock code.
    The customer service rep asked where I bought the phone ( I told her Ebay)
    Then she asked if I was a customer or if I had been a customer in the past.
    I told her no.

    She didn't give me a hard time at all. I of course was very polite.

    I agree with everyone...say you're going abroad & they will do it, customer or not

    The plus side for them Is that even though I'm not a customer now, I have the potential to be a customer in the future.
