I have had this blackberry for a week now , I received it as a gift from a best mate of mine due to the fact he was upgraded by his mobile carrier .(He says he bought the bb from craiglist) He has now moved out the country so I have no contact with him at the moment. Its locked to T-Mobile which is a good thing for me because that's the only carrier that I utilise their sim card. So I managed to start up the blackberry normally with my T-Mobile sim card... I try to call a random contact and even 150 but when its on the call screen itt comes up saying "authrization failure" something like that but anyway that's there , it won't let me send or receive sms including receiving calls. I find it strange because the internet seems to be working on web n walk. I start up BB pin normally then cchange my profile nmame etc. I try add a several friends over bb pin but they don't receive no friend request and aswell as that on my messenger it just says "pending" . Many friends are telling me the imei and pin is blocked. So what's the best thing me doing to repair all these problems on my blackberry. Can't I change the imei and pin ? I need something done to help me out please...

    Thanks
    Braiden77

If it was reported lost or stolen, then the PIN is blacklisted, so it will never be able to be used on BIS.

You need a BIS (BlackBerry) plan, not just a regular data plan. And no, you cannot change your IMEI or PIN. If you change your IMEI you're guilty of a pretty serious crime in most countries. If you change your PIN your handset will never work on the BlackBerry network again and you may brick your phone.

maybe try calling t-mobile and see what the status of the phone is.. if it is stolen i would suggest returning it to t-mobile to get it back to it's rightful owner.. otherwise you just have a really nice mp3 player/paper weight.

Very true. I fought unlocking it would help but I guess you can't do nothing to sort it out?

Just call your carrier and ask for help unless you think your buddy sold you a stolen phone.

Unlocking it just makes it work on other carriers.

Then I can 99% confirm you do not have the adequate plan. BlackBerry's require BlackBerry Data Specific Plans.

    Now for the calls.
Follow the following and reply with what the screen displays.

    1. Go to settings menu and then Options
    2. Select Advanced options and then SIM card
    3. Type MEPD using your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)

What message do you get when you try to make a call? it can be a faulty sim card.
