No, the 8530 is CDMA and at&t uses GSM. Unlocked 8520 will work on at&t.

You will be required to get a data plan when you activate a BlackBerry on AT&T.

Not just any data plan. You need a BlackBerry (BIS) data plan.

Why not just get an Att 8520? It can be problematic to get everything working right. Also, you won't get 3G from a Tmobile phone on Att.

The 8520 does not get 3G even if it is an AT&T device. The only devices that will get 3G on AT&T are the 9000 and 9700. However, the 9700 must be AT&T branded, not T-Mobile, to get 3G. T-Mobile 9700 will only get EDGE if unlocked and used on AT&T's network.

Interesting?? Thanks lak611, I didn't know that the 8520 doesn't get 3g, thought it was only the 8900.

T-Mobile already discontinued the 8900 after getting the 8520 and 9700, so I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T follows suit soon.

I still see the T-Mobile 8900 being sold in retail locations.

if you're just getting into one of the newer blackberry world, I suggest the 8900/9000/9700. If you need 3G, choose the 2 latter ones (9000/9700 both from any network except Tmobile). Between the 2, it will come down to your preference in size, camera specs, trackball vs. trackpad. Other than that...very similar phones to the naked eye
