    Here's my issue,
I was given a Bell BlackBerry 8530 curve and would like to use it on my telus contract because my telus Blackberry pearl flip shut off and wont turn on again.
what needs to be done to do this? am I able to get it done if I were to walk into the telus store?
There isnt a sim card located anywhere with this 8530.
Am I forgetting anything? Im new to all this stuff so more info/help the better.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot use a Bell 8530 with the Telus network. Telus nor bell does not allow other CDMA phones to be activated on their network. They only phones that would work would be: 9000, 9700, 9800, 9300, 9780. Any unlocked HSPA phone with the same frequencies will work. My suggestion is to sell the bell 8530 in the forum, kijijij, or craigslist.

You could get it flashed to work, but as far as the native bb applications doubt they will.

Canadian carriers do not allow any flashed CDMA devices from other carriers to work on their networks unfortunately.

Bell and Telus, KOODO, VIRGIN do not allow any unassigned ESN's on their networks.

youre on the right track. sell it on kijiji or TRADE it for a telus working BB.

Id recommend you get a BB that supports their new HSPA+ network... second hand 9000s for for pretty cheap.

Not a problem. Use that $$ for a 9700 because since the 9780 has come out, they will reduce in price....

Thats a good plan i did have that idea but just wasnt sure on what phone.
do you think the price of $300 for just the 8530 is to much to ask for?
