Unlocked has nothing to do with that part of the device. Once you have the device unlocked your good to go forever.

Its not an iphone that gets bricked if you update after an unlock. your phone is unlocked forever.

This is not an iPhone. An unlock is permanent. Like every other phone on the planet except the iPhone.

Thanks! Just another question. It doesn't matter if i upgrade to another carrier's (roger/cellus) provided os right?

No, it doesn't matter what carrier's you use...just make sure you delete the "vendor.xml" file before you upgrade though.

What happens if didn't delete the vendor.xml file? Just curious, how come we need to delete that file?

if you don't delete the vendor it won't update.

If you don't delete it then it just won't update your device. Vendor.xml is a small file that says it can only install to devices that have a specific vendor ID (yours will have the at&t vendor ID).

All carrier updates are the same, the only difference is this vendor.xml file. Once it is deleted then it will install onto any torch, no matter what carrier branding it has.

From what i read around. If my torch is a at&t set, and if the os i downloaded is from at&t carrier as well i don't need to delete the vendor.xml?

Your correct. But like fatreq said, it's easier to delete it. I always do.

Plus once you enter your unlock code it will stay unlocked forever.

Related question - if updating the OS on an unlocked phone through the DM, how does one delete the vendor file?
