Yes, noob, "just pay for it". What in the world makes everyone think they're owed something for free? Another fine example of what's wrong with America's economy- everyone wants a handout instead of working for it.

If you can't afford the $5-$20 to unlock your phone, you don't deserve to have it unlocked. Unlocking the Verizon 8830 (title of the thread) is for WORLD TRAVELERS. If you're traveling the World, you should be able to come up with $20.
An "Owner" of a BB 8830 ask a simple question and you have to spout your own political/economical caa-caa. There's always someone like you on every forum

klowner and athelstan and the rest with imei ending in "0" you may have it sim unlock and use the 8830we to talk and text but you still wont be able to use it in BIS or BES because the check digit or the last digit of your imei is wrong.

8830 will not work in North America even once unlocked on GSM because of frequencies incompatibility.

I got the unlock code but now I am stuck with 'Activation Required'. Any help for that? Can I take it to any service provided (whose SIM I am using in India) and ask him to activate it for me?

    Thanks for the response.

You need to press the green key (send) and then ##000000 and then send again and the phone will ask you to set your number and once you do that, you need to press the menu key and press save. The phone will reboot and that message will dissapear

That's normal, the 8830 unlocked only works overseas.

I'm heading to Jamaica next month and my S2 is unlocked, thanks to cellunlocknet.

How do I get this working using a Jamaican cell phone carriers sim card? Do I need to turn off VZW service before I go and then use the local SIM card?

Do I leave on the service and go to Jamaica and insert sim without an issue?

I want to ensure that I am not charged for roaming or undue phone calls.

    thanks

What you want to do is insert the Jamaican SIM card in the phone and then go to Options/Mobile Network and change Technology to GSM/UMTS and select 2G. That way your phone will only work with the SIM card and not your Verizon account.

When you get back, you simply need to go back in Options/Status and change Technology to 1XEV and you will be back on your Verizon account.

Thank you for unlocking your phone with CellUnlock.net
